The Amazing Spider-Man J Jonah Jameson in the Reboot

Then you're not thinking hard enough.:oldrazz:

I loved JK in the role, but Dennis Farina could do an awesome job as well.

Especially a JJJ that has the gumption to bank roll the private project that created the Scorpion in an attempt to kill Spider-man. That's got to be as close as JJJ has ever come to actually being a villain.

But why cast the same guy again? It's a step back in a supposed "rebooted" franchise. There's plenty of capable actors who could play the role, I don't understand this mentality that since he was so good, he shold just play him again. Aunt May was good, Connors was good, hell even Tobey was good (IMO), why only keep one actor in the same role?

...Yeah...why would you want someone who was good to reprise their role? That's craziness.

Really though, I'm not saying that there's no one else to play the role. There are lots of capable actors, but since JJ isn't a major character in the films, (smaller I'd say then M was in CR yet she was still recast), I don't see it being a problem. I would love to Simmions given a chance to play a slightly more serious JJJ, while still retaining that humor that made him perfect for the role.

Aunt May and Peter are both larger roles, and those are the ones that you recast in a reboot. If any character stays over through the change, it's usually the side characters (Gordon and Alfred, or M). Which is why I don't see a problem with keeping the same guy for JJJ.

Recast everyone but JJ. I'm completely alright with this. It'd still be a reboot.

Stephan Lang, make him more of a hardass and less of a joke and u got it.

so could kurtwood smith, even though he doesnt look like him. he has the right attitude and could still bring a little bit of comedy to it. dennis farina and stephen lang are still my top choices right now, though. but, i do love kurtwood smith.

Although I'm sad we won't get J.K Simmons back, I wouldn't mind seeing what Ray Wise could do with the role...

Here's the problem I have with Jameson in Raimi's films: He's very bossy and aggressive, but none of that matters, since they put too much comedy – no, let me refrase that – the wrong kind of comedy into his character. In Raimi's films it's a parody of that character. They need to make him the same in this reboot, but minus the ******ed parody.

Other examples are the dancing scenes.

There's a whole JJJ scope to explore that Raimi didn't. He was all about bad comedy that Simmons did right because he's just too good.

I dunno, Lang as JJJ would be a bit of a waste IMO. He'd be better off as a villain.

Thinking back on it now, Lang would've made a really good Sandman and freed THC to be Eddie Brock. But enough off topic stuff. I have no idea what kind of comedy chops Lang has(I've only seen him in serious roles) but if he could do it, I wouldn't be opposed. But no matter which way they are going with JJJ, the character has never been devoid of at least some humor.

Hurt would be good, I'd be interested in a Spiderman/Hulk crossover ala The Avengers though. Stephen Lang is pretty hot right now after Avatar. Recasting JJ is gonna be hard.

I don't see him as JJ myself ,but I agree that he'd make a great Spiderman villan.

I hope this time around J Jonah is not used for comedy relief. He needs to add to Peter's frustration and make the audience feel frustrated. Don't make him so likeable. Yeah he was a jerk in Raimi's Spider-Man, but he was a lovable jerk, kind of like House. I don't want him to be loveable.

Stephen Lang is The JJJ

yeah he could make a good Jonah. I also just realized he could make an excellent Venom as well. He really is a good actor. I feel he could do either one justice.

1.) Because it's a reboot with a new origin, and to me, that says new universe. The same actors makes no sense.

2.) Batman Forever wasn't a reboot.

To each his own, I guess. From the recent news of small budgets and the storylines being used, keeping Simmons won't save this thing anyway.

I actually wouldn't mind if JK Simmons kept the role, even though it's a reboot. I feel that would be alright. If they want to go with someone new, though, Stephen Lang seems like a good choice. I had never thought of Dennis Farina, but he would actually be very good in the role, I think.

As much as I would love to see Simmons back, there's no point in rebooting if they were bringing the same actor's back. It's all fan stuff that should be ignored. People just have to let it go and embrace a new JJ.

But Hugh Laurie is probably my top choice.
