He was attempting to poke fun at the gap between her front teeth. There's nothing wrong with her teeth though and his "joke" was pretty tacky.

Oh, lighten up, I was only messing. She is very pretty. :yay:

I think I actually liked this one better than Skyfall. Better ending and a better female lead/bond girl.

I still have both of them behind CR however.

Something I do wonder is what exactly causes these Craig Bond films to be so damn expensive? I read the budget for this one is between 250 and 300 million. Is it all the practical effects?

Yeah I assume it's the practical effects.

Quantum of Solace was pretty expensive too

Bond does a lot of location shooting, and that cost a pretty penny, especially when you are going to blow crap up. Because that cost a lot to get there.

The Day of The Dead parade with all the costumed extra's involved was a large piece of the budget, which is why it was so heavily advertised during the marketing despite it being a very small portion of the film. Add that, along with the helicopter stuff and the cgi building collapse etc, and you have a very expensive 10 minutes of film.

People keep talking about the expensive aspects of Bond, yet forget about the huge property tie-ins this franchise has in it's back pocket.

Well, the tie ins probably help but I doubt that they can pay for the film outright.

After a 73 million dollar opening weekend I think this film is going to have trouble hitting 200 million. Don't get me wrong it will still be a hit worldwide. I always thought it making as much as Skyfall here in the states was a stretch.

Looking like $73m for the estimated opening weekend. If it doesn't have decent legs, it isn't getting there. It is going to break records for the series pretty much everywhere else though.

Skyfall had a huge advantage with the the Bond 50th anniversary hoopla and his Olympics appearance and maybe even that 4 year gap between films. All elements that caused Skyfall to arguably over-perform.

It made a lot more money than other modern bond film.

Internationally though Spectre is still doing about Skyfall numbers.

The problem with the huge budgets for these films though is the break even point is pretty high.

SPECTRE has the bigger advantage of coming off of Skyfall. That is why it is opening huge everywhere.

I really hope Mendes doesn't come back. I think him returning was a big part of why this movie was so disappointing.

I fell like Skyfall was pretty much everything he needed to say about James Bond.

I still think Skyfall was more following the previous 50 years of Bond than following QoS. That 50th anniversary combined with how the film itself sort of celebrated that was huge.

4 years is quite some time between sequels especially Bond sequels and Skyfall almost felt like a soft reboot from QoS. I do like that Spectre tied things back again though.

Skyfall had extremely solid wom, reviews and marketing. If it got Spectre reviews and wom it would have not faired as well.

Spectre following QOS would leave the franchise not doing too hot imo. It wasn't just a matter of when Skyfall came out. Pretty much everyone loved that film.

Skyfall was able to ride the 50th anniversary, but it was because it was beloved by critics and audiences alike. SPECTRE is riding the Skyfall wave, and you can tell because of the openings. QoS did the same with CR. WOM and legs are what made Skyfall huge. It just kept making money over a long period of time. SPECTRE has opened huge, but chances are it doesn't have the same legs at all.

You saw this with Spider-Man 3.

I haven't seen the film yet, but I have one question: Is Bond's origin story finally over?
