James Bond: 007 - Spectre - - Part 11

Would love to see Craig and Mendes return for one more personally. I liked Spectre more than most people did.

I don't want to see Mendes come back. I just didn't feel the love I felt with Skyfall. It felt more strenuous and more forced. Craig I can do with or without.

Mendes sorta went through what Joss Whedon went through with Avengers 2; I felt the fatigue from both directors.

So no to Mendes and I think he would say no too.

I would just like Mendes to complete a trilogy of Bond movies. But as I said I enjoyed Spectre more than many did. I thought it was a good movie, just not as good as Skyfall.

I would like a new director for a new approach. That's how Bond can stay relevant.

IMO "Skyfall" was a one hit wonder for Mendes. His 2nd outing was more of the same from "Skyfall"

I want a fun Bond movie again. I mean, this film tried to be that I guess, but it was also very dimly shot, desaturated and fished for oedipal drama. It tried to be both and succeeded at neither.

Leave the darkness!, no parents! stuff behind and just give us a goofy James Bond escapist adventure damn it. I mean, Blofeld got his face burnt off. That is sufficient reason for him to go bonkers.

Let him be an over the top supervillain with an outlandish scheme which forces Bond to be outlandish too.

The director and the composer where clearly NOT on the same page with that scene. It's clearly meant to be an almost Roger Moore-esque "comedic" chase. Yet the music in that scenes acts like it's the most "serious epic dangerous" car chase ever.

This. It was never supposed to be a nail biter.

But it wasn't supposed to be a snooze fest either, but that's what it came across as. The Roger Moore chases, as I mentioned, were far more exciting than this leisurely drive across Rome.

I didn't think it was a snooze. Nor can I discount it because it wasn't exactly like the thing it was homaging. To each his own I guess.

Action scene has action music. Whodathunk?

I don't really care if it was like the thing it was meant to be paying homage to or not. I just wanted it to be an exciting chase in its own right, but it was not. It could've still been thrilling but with the occasional bits of comedy thrown in.

I didn't have an issue with the chase scene either myself, thought it was quite good. IMO people are too harsh on this movie in general.

I agree. I'm not a big Bond fan and, like you, I enjoyed Spectre more than others did.

I'm a big Bond fan and I enjoyed Spectre. I have my share of problems with it, too, but I still enjoyed it. Same with Quantum of Solace. I know it's flawed but I still like it a lot, and think it's a solid movie.

Music that doesn't even remotely fit the tone of the scene, like not even a little. At least the Moore films tended to get that right about their "comedic chases."

I think we can all agree Craig's run has been one of the best so far in the franchise, right? Even Quantum Of Solace gets a few things right.

Even Spectre got some things right. So of course the slightly superior Quantum did.

I agree with Tacit Ronan, I want this film to be "a fun movie again!"

Let M (with Moneypenny and Q) send 007 out on a mission and eventually find out that S.P.E.C.T.R.E. agents are still pulling the strings even though Blofeld is not there.

This could - and I reluctantly say SHOULD BE - a new James Bond. Eventually in a future adventure Blofeld (which could be Waltz) could be freed to take his position again as head of the SPecial Executive for Terrorism, Revenge, and Extortion.

Maybe dear Ernst has a daughter who is running things and could be running the show while he is away!

Thing is, for me, Casino Royal from the opening minute blow me out the park - it was not your typical Bond film, yet i knew this was Bond. He was raw, yet the potential to be 'ultimate bond' was there, it was an exciting introduction.

What we have now, is Craig backed into a corner, where it seems there is no where for him to go. A shift in tone will seem odd and Bond just looked, in many scenes in Spectre, puffy and weird. The sex scenes were akward and his new love interest just doesn't convince me.

I think best thing is to quietly let it be known Craig is no more and reboot.

I was watching Spectre on Blu-ray and realized what lacked in the car chase.

Not enough collision damage. Those cars were so prestine and delicate during the shoot that it was almost impossible to really let loose with them.

They basically danced around Rome.

I think they just wanted to change things up. Besides, I couldn't see them topping the excellent car chase from Quantum Of Solace.

Easy, the same cool choreography minus the atrocious editing.

And once again, NO MORE REBOOTING!! We got away with not rebooting for forty freaking years and TWENTY films. I'm not interested AT ALL in seeing them reboot again already just because one actor is leaving, do not want!!

That's kind of why I don't think Craig is done yet. I'm fairly certain that they want to adapt Shatterhand and use that to close out Craig's era and the Blofeld story, whilst also leaving room for another actor to come in organically. It makes the most sense to give the current story a feeling of End/New Beginning.

More or less they've got everything in a good place now, M, Q, Moneypenny and Tanner are firmly established and a new Bond actor can come in and inhabit the role without too much set up.

If Tanner has a single line of dialogue that isn't exposition it would be a massive promotion for him.
