James Bond: 007 - Spectre - Part 9

It's the Silva connection that stands out like a sore thumb and puts me off. Silva's character and plot in Skyfall had no indications he was working for any higher power. He was much stronger as a villain when he was his own man with his own story and personal vendetta. Listening to Blofeld claim credit for M's death was just so wrong.

I haven't seen the film yet, still gotta wait another week, but I don't understand why some stated they felt the explanation of Spectre/Quantum was the element that connects all three films. Quantum was definitely involved, and pulling some strings in CR in the form of Mr. White, and QoS is self explanatory. Only film where I don't see how they are involved is Skyfall (maybe that's explained in Spectre), but yea, they seem to be building up to this organization since the ending of CR.

Spot on man. I fully agree with you on this.

Just leaves a little bit of a sour taste now when you think of the character.

Honestly it would have been really cool if Bellucci had turned out to be Blofeld, with Waltz as Emilio Largo, or a Largo-like character. Certainly cooler than "Blofeld has daddy issues."

I can't tell you how much I loved Craig's response. A woman whom is 4 years older is an "older woman" but no comments about how his love interest, the main Bond girl is 17 years younger than he is.

Well, it's not the first relationship in a blockbuster this year between a woman and a guy who was nearly graduating high school when she was born. :o

Exactly, the double standard is ridiculous. Well-done Mr. Craig.

That was a good response by Craig to the "older woman" question.

I was never really a fan of Craig and I still probably won't become one but I have a ton of respect for him right now.

By the way I don't care if one is 17 years older than their partner, I'm just saying that a 4 year age difference is not a big deal...unless it's a 14 year old dating an 18 year old. I don't like it then.

Skyfall at the time seemed to kinda work like Goldfinger originaly did, serving as a side trip before going back tot he main storyline. Quantum of Solace had many problems, but never once did i think Quantum was one of them, the organization felt big and threatening, while i have yet to watch the film, [BLACKOUT] i realy dislike it possibly being all tied to James Bond's past, the reason they felt big was the fact that he was just caught in between this giant terrorist group. In the original books and films, Bond and Blofeld don't need to know each others before their confrontation, their actions are enough for them to end up as archrivals, as their conflicts just got more and more personal. [/BLACKOUT]

I was afraid for this part since the SONY leaks, and i'm disappointed they didn't improve it.

The problem with Skyfall is that Berenice Marlohe had almost nothing to do.

Her role is huge compared to Monica Belucci's. And Severine had more story and personality to her than Belucci's character does.

Yeah but that goes back to one of the problems that I have with the Craig-era (as much as I like it overall, it’s not perfect). The Brosnan-era, even in the lesser films, at least TRIED to make BOTH the main and secondary Bond women relevant/important to the story. With the Craig ones, it’s like they put all of their effort into the main Bond woman, and the secondary one feels like an afterthought as a result.

I don't know how to set a poll up, but it seems increasingly to me that S.P.E.C.T.R.E. may be Daniel Craig's last appearance as 007, so would someone please set up a poll so that his replacement can be voted on?

I have heard some possibilities: Daniel Stephens, Tom Hardy, Michael Fassbender, Benedict Cumberbatch, Idris Elba, and Henry Cavill.

I would also like to think that Vikings actors Travis Fimmel and Clive Standen could be added to the mix - even though Fimmel is Australian (so was George Lazenby, who accredited himself quite well.)

I would like the present thematic universe created in Casino Royale and Skyfall could be continued with Ralph Fiennes and Naomi Harris. This would probably rule out Stephens because he is too young and Cavill because he is too good looking, and Idris Elba because he is not white. Michael Fassbender is the logical successor because of his looks. Tom Hardy has not stood out because he is pretty unmemorable in appearance - however this may be a good thing for a person who is in the spy business! Of course it would be difficult to be a spy and then drive away in the latest Aston Martin automobile! Clive Standen definitely has to looks to be Bond, but does he have the acting chops? And Benedict Cumberbatch would probably be way too busy, and I would not like to see him be Sherlock on an ever more less frequent timetable.

You seem pretty keen on having Craig leave the role.

I didn't stay til the end of the credits. But it's safe to say it was there. They're never going to stop making Bond movies.

It's just amazing how people have been brainwashed by hollywood.

It's ridiculous and I am glad to see an actor with a big movie platform speak out. Monica Bellucci is a stunning woman, her age shouldn't even be a question, as you say, no one is asking Craig about Bond being with a woman young enough to be his daughter.

Dude, many 20 yr old dudes would still choose a fifty something Bellucci. Believe that.

Props to Craig. Bellucci is an all time great.
