Rogue One James Earl Jones is Darth Vader in Rogue One

Yeah it felt like an impression and there was far too much emotion; I found his delivery to be very un-Vader-like. But the worst thing about Vader was the pun. I couldn't believe they made him go full blown 70s Bond villain.

Darth Vader makes puns now?

Vader's been a smug smart ass in the original trilogy just look at this video.

Also Anakin Skywalker also made a lot of jokes in the prequels so it's make sense he'd have a dark twisted humor.

I'm just seeing him being threatening. I don't see any sarcasm or puns.

Young Anakin =/= Vader. By this logic, it should be ok to see Vader whine and complain about sand, too.

Sand can be hard to clean out of those cybernetic limbs.:o

"The Emperor is not as forgiving as I am" is a prime example. The thought of Darth Vader being forgiving is hilarious on its own because he choked nearly every Imperial officer who messed up their job in Empire.

"Apology accepted, Captain Needa" is another one.

Ok, sure, I'll give you those, but they are not awful, cheesy puns, but cold and threatening comments that tell us about his character. There's a massive difference between them. Just an awful, awful line.

Apparently so. I was looking for a "location text" or whatever during that scene but it never came.

According to Pablo Hidalgo the name of the planet was left off because they wanted preserve a few extra moments of suspense without the audience realising they were going to see Vader.

I wasn't a big fan of the "Don't choke on your ambition" line either, but it's still far from the worst thing we've ever heard Vader say.

clearly from a certain point of view you lack imagination. The dialogue is dark humor
...And if you think groan-inducing, moustache twirling puns are fitting for Vader, you lack taste. Like I said before, Vader never made bad puns in the original trilogy. We can consider some lines as bordering on dark humor sarcasm (which I did concede), but those lines were far from the crap in Rogue One.

If you liked the line, good for you. We clearly have different views on the matter, so there's no point in further discussion.

Very well we agree to disagree.

Yeah, people say he doesn't make puns, I make Vader quotes. He made puns. "Apology Accepted, Captain Needa" is a pun. This is some really odd criticism to make.

Yep, Vader is sarcastic as hell. He is the Lord of Sick Burns.

Anakin Skywalker in all his forms has been and always will be a sassy snarky drama queen

That scene towards the end when Vader slaughters a bunch of Rebels was like out of a horror movie. Pretty damn awesome!

Wasn't it announced beforehand that Vader had summoned him?

Krennic showed up to grovel. Vader was taking a nice soothing bath.

Yeah, I got the idea that Krennic asked for an audience, Vader agreed so he could check him. And check Krennic did he ever. :awesome:

I want to say no. Especially as it was Krennic's response to being upset with [BLACKOUT]Tarkin[/BLACKOUT].

I need to see the movie again, but I thought I recall something when Krennic waking up in the shuttle after Eadu, where she swallows heavily in fear, either after being told he was being summoned to Vader or telling them to set up an audience, but I thought that was before the establishing shot of Mustafar. I could be wrong.

Krennic swallowing heavily in fear is in [BLACKOUT]Vader's castle[/BLACKOUT]. He is standing in the room, waiting for Vader and he looks like he is going to pee himself. I don't think they ever establish he is going there before he goes there.
