You're missing my point. Disney is apparantly working on Pirates 6. Looks like they have no problem with Depp. Regardless what one believes the production of the last one shut down for a bit because he "hurt his hand" allegedly cut his own finger because he was wasted and accused his wife on cheating in blood writing. So this is OK but tweets from 10 years ago from someone who made the studio money and causes studio no problems during production are enough to fire that person?

My point is that the swift action and Gunn not fighting back and his co-stars seemingly going rouge for him suggests Disney and Gunn know there is gonna be trouble if people keep looking into this guy's past so they want it to die down .

Feige can shelve the GOTG tomorrw and the MCU will still be the strongest franchise in the world.This is the company that madealmost 4 billion with 3 films.

If this were about anything more than a handful of obnoxious jokes made on the Twitter machine (mostly) before he was hired, the alt-right and their SJW allies would have found out about it by now. No, this appears to be as dumb as it looks. The leading old media company fell victim to a cybernazi scam and (so far) haven't had the nads to admit they effed up.

And if pedo jokes made at any time in one's life are cause for dismissal from Disney, even after years of exemplary service, the Mouse better stock up on pink slips. Because every comedian ever (except for Cosby!) is no longer suitable for employment.

Are you saying you think James Gunn is a pedophile and Disney knows it? If so, then I am sorry, such accusations are garbage. Show me any legal finding for such a claim, other than some jokes. There is a thing called innocent until proven guilty. The twitter mob maybe wants to learn that before accusing or insinuating things like that.

Depp is still in the Harry Potter prequel series at WB and POTC franchise at Disney. Neither studio is backing away from him.

Disney sees Gunn as expendable which is probably why he was shown the door instead of just made to write a apology statement by the PR department. Rosanne was more trouble than she was worth for Disney.

No, but I am saying basically calling someone a pedophile or insinuating it without proof is garbage and irresponsible. You can disagree with me on the firing all you want, but accusing someone of a crime like that is not the same. The dude made some offensive tweets. That is not proof of jack in regards to CRIMINAL behavior. Unless you have proof of something like that, then these type of accusations hold zero water. We need to be more careful as a whole before accusing people of crimes with nothing to back it up. Innocent until proven guilty.

The post never stated that accusation outright, but it was implied by the point when she was talking about people digging into his past. Tweets are out there, so what does digging into his past mean? I think the accusation is very clear.

That’s what I’m saying. I work in entertainment, I know a contingency plan when I see one. For Gunn to be so silent and so innocent for the last month, he surely has been awfully quiet. Just making an observation, but someone had to have found something more than just some tweets.

If you’re innocent and you know that’s not your character, you’d defend yourself and your career to the end. As quiet as Gunn is, someone had to have pulled his card.

really sad that there are people excusing Gunn's insane 'jokes' and willing to brush it away and rehire him just because they enjoyed a couple of his movies.

Hope Disney does not budge on this (and they won't).

It's not just because we "enjoyed his movies." It's because we have the ability to understand the difference between yes, horrible, offensive jokes and actions, and we also have the ability to see the evidence that a man changed in the near decade since he last made those jokes, and started using his platform to try and help people.

It worries me more that so many have lost all ability to understand nuance and context anymore, unless it is a movie star they really love. Because RDJ recklessly endangered other peoples' lives when he drove under the influence of drugs and went to prison for it. But I suppose you'll find it in your heart to forgive him for making mistakes. In that case, only because you like his movies.
