Lol, it seems the sad alt-righters are mad that they failed to get Oswalt, Silverman, Jeong etc. fired, so they're doubling down on the James Gunn thing. Not sure what they're trying to accomplish, though, Disney already got rid of him. Are they trying to get him even more fired?

They are afraid that Disney will rehire him and they are trying to prevent that from happening.

Well just like here, the costumes are a little weird and possibly inappropriate, but it doesn't mean anything illegal is happening either. They probably just thought it was funny. I'm a live and let live kind of guy, and my general attitude as long as everyone is of consenting age and no one's being hurt, you do you.

It's not proof or evidence of any wrongdoing.

And in the original blog post those pictures came from, it was presented as just one of many costume/Halloween parties he went to that year. He also went to parties dressed like an 80s rock star, a mime, Howard Stern and more and those pics are all in that post too, but of course the doinks pick the “pedo priest” costume pics and spread them without context.

At least this doesn’t seem to have spread much beyond the usual suspects this time around.

So they're trying to make sure their only success does not turn into another failure... I see.

Which kinda showcases how this thing wasn't as damaging as implied. I think the fact that the far right is so gung ho about it is what's causing Hollywood to basically want to keep him in the fold out of spite.

I kind of wish this would happen to the entirety of the internet.

The pic has been taken wildly out of context. it's not a "pedo party", like they're trying to claim. It was just a regular costume/theme party, and everyone was dressed as something different.

Yeah, I also didn't make the pedo connection. It just looks like a strange party.

I guess its SOMETHING that Horn met with Gunn after initially kowtowing to a cybernazi scam, but this entire situation reeks. Firing a director for edgy jokes made (mostly) before his contract was signed sets a bad precedent for the Mouse. Lets see if they hold all employees to the same high moral standard and purge their ranks of anyone who has ever made an offensive joke.

And shame on Feige for not standing by an employee who delivered two wildly successful films and had the full support of his cast and crew. I wonder if Iger offered to make him Horn's successor so long as he toed the company line.

Very sad. The MCU will never be the same to me. I won't be seeing the next Guardians or CM either. These cowards aren't getting my money.

Huh? Did I miss something here? Guardians I can understand but Captain Marvel? What happened there?

It's the next release, the best way I can voice my displeasure with this decision is to impact their bottom line. I don't think I'll be alone in this.

I may not even see A4 in theaters, I simply loathe these hypocrites right now.

Well, at the end of the day Gunn is going to be $10m richer for not as much work as he was hired to to, and it's already been determined he's going to get work elsewhere in Hollywood after this. The issue now for Disney is they've set the precedent for themselves.

Can't say I'm surprised, but this whole thing has REALLY soured me on Disney. But less so Marvel, given that Feige at least stuck to his guns to a point.

Though as I said in the other thread, I lol'd at the "he was out of town" line. What an unfortunate scheduling conflict. :whatever:

I had a feeling they weren't gonna change their minds despite alot of the reports that Gunn would likely be back in the directors chair and despite the fury by fans and the press.

Disney is cutthroat, and unless they feel its really in their own best interest to rehire Gunn, they aren't gonna change their minds .

Their judgment may be totally wrong, but as long as they believe they made the right call, its gonna be hard to convince them they made a mistake.

You add to that the hubris of a mega corporation means they're alot less likely to bend to the will of angry actors, fans, and the media.

Yep, I wonder if Horn met with Johnny Depp before or after telling Gunn, "Your tweets crossed the uncrossable line."
