You are under the assumption they knew he did this. Why?
I work for Disney. Trust me, they dig up everything.

Can I see what he said in 2012?He apologized and atoned for those "jokes" and statements in 2012. What was he supposed to do? This hyper-sensitive zero tolerance, off with their heads mob mentality the internet has is extremely dangerous. He came clean that he was in the wrong with what he posted IN TWO THOUSAND AND TWELVE.
This was wrong of Disney. They're in the wrong.

So you know their policies for background checks in 2012 and 2013?I work for Disney. Trust me, they dig up everything.
Where are you getting the 10,000 number from? Like is that his total tweet count, or do we know how many he deleted before he deleted his whole twitter?I disagree wholeheartedly.
It's wrong to make creepy jokes about pedophilia thousands of times. Sorry not sorry, no amount of apologizing is going to allow me to un-see those tweets, nor will it make me understand how a grown man "didn't know any better" when he posted this when he was in his 40's.
He was borderline obsessed with making jokes about pedophilia. To me, that comes across as taking an interest in the subject.
When you act unprofessionally, don't be shocked when your professional environment turns its back on you.

Disney is in the wrong to care about their bottom line and yes potentially ethics, as opposed to the guy who just couldn't get enough of joking about pedophilia?
Also if it is true he was digging up old tweets on other people, how is this not fair game on him?

It seems people have really forgotten this rule. A lot of people seem to think that everything they post online is anonymous and/or safe from consequences when that's not the case anymore, especially with more companies afraid of backlash from employees' social media activity and hypersensitive the internet is these days.Oh, no argument, he brought this on himself. Its still BS imho.
And yes, be careful of anything you post, tweet, email, etc. My rule is if you wouldnt want your mother to read it, dont post it.
Wow.I've read reports that he deleted 10,000 tweets last night.
He even made the mistake of revealing that he was searching his own Twitter history to delete stuff. He accidentally posted a tweet that said he was searching through a specific time period of tweets as well.
So you know their policies for background checks in 2012 and 2013?
That is something else he wrote. That is a blog, not his twitter.

On what front page? Sorry, not sure what you meant. His statement is on the front page now.
i feel like feige was overruled/(possibly defending gunn BTS on this one?) since horn is the one making the statement
the man already apologized for this SIX YEARS AGO back in 2012. how long does somebody have to be sorry for?
and disney gets played by political agitators with axes to grind. stupid stupid stupid
why didnt he delete them?the man already apologized for this SIX YEARS AGO back in 2012.
Thanks terry.
Here is Gunn defending the prior tweets, which were aggregated by Fox News before his Twitter feed was taken down.
1. Many people who have followed my career know when I started, I viewed myself as a provocateur, making movies and telling jokes that were outrageous and taboo. As I have discussed publicly many times, as Ive developed as a person, so has my work and my humor.
James Gunn (@JamesGunn) July 20, 2018
2. Its not to say Im better, but I am very, very different than I was a few years ago; today I try to root my work in love and connection and less in anger. My days saying something just because its shocking and trying to get a reaction are over.
James Gunn (@JamesGunn) July 20, 2018
4. For the record, when I made these shocking jokes, I wasnt living them out. I know this is a weird statement to make, and seems obvious, but, still, here I am, saying it.
James Gunn (@JamesGunn) July 20, 2018
5. Anyway, thats the completely honest truth: I used to make a lot of offensive jokes. I dont anymore. I dont blame my past self for this, but I like myself more and feel like a more full human being and creator today. Love you to you all.
