James Newton Howard will score GREEN LANTERN

Agreed. When I eat dinner, he will play, and when I walk around, he'll play my theme song.

He could probably create the most epic theme out for Stephen Hawkings even.

Seems to be , that they are mixing the filmscore at this stage of the postproduction:

Twitter account of Stuart Thomas coworker of James Newton Howard:

Patrick Doyle for Thor
James Newton Howard for GL
Michael Giacchino/John Powell for Cap?

Doesn't get much more :awesome: than that. Cannot wait for all three scores.

That's fast. The movie's coming out in June and they've already mixed the music. I don't know about that. I'm pretty sure they're still tinkering with the special effects (and will continue a few weeks before release), but the score is being mixed already ? Scoring and sound mixing are usually the last things that get done during post.

I've also heard that users can fake their twitter account. So this could be BS.

I don´t know if there is reason to fake a twitter account in this case, but Stuart Thomas is indeed coworker of Howard and on his homepage he confirmed that they had started to work on GL.

It could be that they are doing this for the next trailer, perhaps?

LOL now we know for sure: ( this forum seems to get lot of attention ) :woot:

Green Lantern fans (looking at you "Superherohype"), we're not mixing GL yet. Mixing Water For Elephants. James is writing on GL now though

Well, IMDB has Peter Rotter listed as orchestra contractor, which means that JNH is getting ready to start recording the score or has already started.

I hope that the eventual soundtrack release includes the choir/vocal tracks, since they're recording with L.A. union musicians. (I hated how the studio stripped out the vocals from The Last Airbender OST and put in synth ones, because they didn't want to pay reuse fees.)

I just hope JNH couild come up with something memorable and epic for GL. I always believed the live action DC superhero film scores (excluding BB, TDK, CINO, and I haven't seen nor plan to see Jonah Hex in case that counts as a superhero movie) have had great and memorable themes & scores. I hope JNH can write an iconic theme/score, b/c he hasn't really impressed me since his Lady in the Water score. That was 5 years ago.

I mean he's written some decent to good scores, but nothing really impressive since LITW, imo. Oh and I haven't seen M Night's TLA yet. Probably shouldn't since JNH (from what I've heard from others) was the only good thing that came out of the movie. The album for TLA is OOP now too. So the only reason to even watch the movie is no longer availiable on album to listen to. So I'll spare myself (for now)the torture of looking at TLA. But I have more faith in him (that he can deliver the goods) than I do in Alan Sivestri scoring Cap. So...

I think James Newton Howard can deliver a great score... His previews works are for the most part great. I still wonder what it will sound like.... I really want a bad ass memorable score for GL... With a lot of chorus :D

I have a feeling Newton Howard will do a GREAT job on the score of this film. Can't wait to hear it!

By the way, the title of this thread, should be changed to James Newton Howard to Score Green Lantern!

so i hope he will make a GL theme that will work in the movie . something that you can listen when you think about GL.

Interesting choice for a composer on this one. Not one that I would have expected or even chosen, but I think he'll add some ethereal qualities to it...especially the slower/personal aspects of the film. Color me intrigued.

Should leak earlier than that hopefully.

Last time somebody said something like that it didn't happen. Let's just go by the May 24th day for now since we have that date coming from a credible source (Watertower Music).

Thor leaked last week, Harry Potter leaked two weeks in advance, iron man 2 the day the movie came out.

Its very possible.

As much as I was disappointed with JNH scoring this. (I was hoping Giacchino would score this)I'm starting to get excited for what he'll come up with for GL, b/c he'll have a lot to work on this film. I hope he takes advantage of it. As well as I hope Campbell takes advantage of JNH and let him loose.

But I also hope JNH's GL theme will be as memorable as Williams' Superman March, Goldsmith's Suspergirl theme and Elfman's Batman and Flash theme. Assuming he's giving GL a big theme. The live action DC superhero movies excluding BB & TDK have always had good themes and scores, imho. So here's hoping.

I'm also excited for the film.

So which track will be signature score for the film?

Track 2 reminds me of Christopher Young's Hellraiser work. :awesome:
