James Newton Howard will score GREEN LANTERN

I'm not really hearing a definitive theme, maybe hints at one.

Really not feeling the samples. Hopefully I like the full thing better, I've been looking forward to this for ages.

Track 10 - ''We're Going to Fly Now'' sounds promising.

That's my favorite bit of the samples on there. It's hard to really judge any of it because it's only small pieces of a larger score. Maybe "The Corps" will end up being the main theme. A lot of the tracks seem to have an industrial sound giving it an alien feel.

Amazon.com has 30 second previews of the soundtrack cues:

Looks like this soundtrack release is digital only. No pressed CDs.

That's disappointing that it'll only be a digital release. Come on it's JNH and it's a score to one of the biggest and most anticipated movies this year. Hopefully sometime down the road they'll decide to release it on pressed CDs (not CDRs).

I'll wait to hear the score in the film before purchasing the cd and listening to samples like I do most movies. Can't wait.

i dont hear a theme in the soundtrack. this would be bad.

There's a chance that the themes are in the parts we haven't heard. Or it could be like The Last Airbender where you have to really dig to find the themes.

its just that they almost always have teh theme in the previews....if there is a theme.

i was not expecting an iconic them. but something that would be GL's. hes own music.

Let's face the facts here. People don't buy records anymore and CD's are going away as well. Most folks (even in developing countries) get their music through a digital down load and then listen to it on an mp3 player or burn their own personalized soundtrack onto a CD. It is more than likely a waste of resources to attempt to burn CD's for sale on the open market nowadays.

The sound is not usually what I go for, but with GL and Martin Campbell I can see it working well.

I'm a big techno/industrial fan, so this is right up my alley. It suits Green Lantern well.

I can picture "Abin Sur Attacked" track playing based on the scenes we've seen. Gonna be a good scene.

I hope that the whole score is leaked soon. I can't wait to hear the whole thing.

Score sounds good, reminds me of Metal Gear Solid music.

And yet even the smallest movies can get CD score releases. This is just laziness.

all movie scores are on youtube 2 weeks before the movie is realesed.

GL could very well be a case where some pressed CDs are available to order from either online sites or through certain B&M stores. WB's Legend of the Guardians score had a Borders-only CD release, while dual New Line/WB releases like The Time Traveler's Wife and A Nightmare on Elm Street (2010) have pressed CDs released in Europe.

Apparently, CD Universe will be releasing GL as a pressed CD. So if you like what you hear, you can preorder a CD:

The previews sounds okay and I can't wait to hear the whole soundtrack.

Cool. I just hope I like the score, b/c someone on TDKR forums said he took a page from Zimmer for this score.

It sounds like a more Sci-Fi Iron Man than anything. I really hated Iron Man's score on that note. I really hope these samples are misleading. When I heard it had a 104 piece orchestra I got so excited, don't let me down JNH....

Ironman's score is crap. It doesn't feel Ironmanish.
