Jason Bourne

Listen up, ladies and gentlemen. Our fugitive has been on the run for 90 minutes. Average foot speed over uneven ground, barring injuries, is 4 miles-an-hour. That gives us a radius of six miles. What I want out of each and every one of you is a hard-target search of every gas station, residence, warehouse, farmhouse, henhouse, outhouse and doghouse in that area. Checkpoints go up at fifteen miles. Your fugitive’s name is Jason Bourne. Go get him.

I love the Greengrass/Damon Bourne team, but...their trilogy was perfect. I feel like it would be wisest to leave it be, and I thought they both felt that way, but I know, money talks, yada yada. It's just gonna get awkward with the Renner situation.

That said, am I gonna see this one opening day? You betcha. :D

I pretend that film with Renner never happened. :o

Normally, I would say don't mess with a perfect trilogy but....I kind of felt like Ultimatum ended a bit abruptly and there was still more story to tell. So, I'm very much looking forward to one more outing from Greengrass and Damon.

Do a marvel style post credits scene with Harrison Ford on the run too.

Jason Bourne's grandfather

Nice. Always great to see Tommy Lee Jones.

Tommy Lee Jones is only 68 years old? he looks 90 :woot:

good casting

Maybe he will be David Webb's father.

I'm curious what Greengrass thinks of Legacy and if he plans on resolving those threads at all. For example, what about Scott Glenn as the CIA director? Noah Vosen? Edward Norton's character?

Yeah Norton's character (whom I quite liked btw) just kind of, disappears from the movie. And Legacy plays it up like Vosen and co are going to basically get off scott-free by lying their asses off/blaming Pamela Landy for everything. I wonder if Jones is playing a villain, or if he'll be a "good" CIA person (ala Landy and Nicky Parsons)?

Funny story, TLJ was originally going to be the guy hunting Vin Diesal and co in Fast Five. But then a fan wrote to Justin Lin (the director) and mentioned wanting to see a foe who could conceivably take Vin in a fight, which in turn inspired Lin to cast The Rock instead. So we almost got US Marshals 2: Rio Edition.

Like Tommy Lee Jones, but him playing the Hobbs character would've been ridiculous.

Well it's not like he hasn't played an obsessed, relentless, fugitive-hunter before. In fact, I believe that he has an Oscar sitting on his mantle to prove it.

Exactly my point. Would've been too satirical, self-referential.

Matt Damon Says The New “Bourne” Movie Is About “A Post-Snowden World”

“Without giving too much of it away, it’s Bourne through an austerity-riddled Europe and in a post-Snowden world,” Damon said. “It seems like enough has changed, you know? There are all these kinds of arguments about spying and civil liberties and the nature of democracy.”

As for the new Bourne film, actors Tommy Lee Jones and Alicia Vikander (Ex Machina) are reportedly joining the cast, and Julia Stiles is set to reprise her role of ex-CIA agent Nicky Parsons, which she’s played since 2002’s The Bourne Identity. But while Damon was reticent to reveal more details about the movie, he did hint that the new film’s exploration of national security and politics in the 21st century would be reflected in the radically different locations that will bookend the film’s story.

“We’re starting in Greece, you know, the beginning of democracy,” he said — also a nod to the country’s current financial crisis that is plaguing the greater European economy. “And the movie ends in Las Vegas, the most grotesque incarnation of….” Damon trailed off with a laugh, content to let others fill in whichever institution they’d most prefer to see Jason Bourne dismantle with just his quick wits and fleet fists.

That does sound awesome.

Let's wipe that Renner abomination out of our mind's.

Ah yes, the Renner film. We were having this discussion in the xXx thread about how movie studios try and sell you really hard on "the new guy" whenever they replace the lead actor in a franchise. They did it with the Renner film, trying to show you that "Jason Bourne was just the tip of the iceberg" and Aaron Cross was stronger, faster, smarter... even superhuman! So stupid. F*** that movie.

No, he's far more successful than both of them. Anyway, I still want Joan Allen back as well. Oh and maybe a non corrupt CIA/US government antagonist this time (heck the original novels had Carlos the Jackal as the main threat, so you can do a more "traditional" type of villain easily).
