Jason Bourne

I wonder if they'll use the Bourne Betrayal book title like the previous films did respectively.

Actually, the DOB that she gave him was fake (it was actually the address of the Treadstone training facility in NYC).

Vincent Cassel Set To Join ‘Bourne’ Movie http://bit.ly/1f015n0

Cool. I'm still wondering if Tommy Lee Jones will be a villain as well (ala Brian Cox and David Strathairn), and ally, or a neutral third party. Also, why kind of character is Alicia Vikander playing. I'm kind of hoping that she's playing a field agent (since that's one of the few things that these films haven't really had yet).

Cassel is awesome. This cast is shaping up quite nicely.

The casting I'm waiting for here though is Joan Allen. Not only did I like Pam Landy as a character, but given what happened with her at the end of Legacy, the extent of her involvement in this would tell us a lot more about how much they plan to acknowledge the events of that film, if at all.

I wish they just waited for Damon and Greengrass to come back to the franchise. Didn't like Bourne Legacy all that much. But I have no doubt that this will be awesome. Love the first three films.

It's gonna be hard to top the third one. That was one of the best closing films to a trilogy ever.

^Yeah, I'm a little bit worried about that, not gonna lie. Bourne and Toy Story are the closest things to "perfect" trilogies I've ever seen. There's not a weak link in the bunch, they got better with each installment, and they each nailed their endings (imo). Now that both are getting new movies, it's hard not to think that one of them might drop the ball and push one installment too far (notice how I'm ignoring the fact that Legacy exists, because as far as I'm concerned, that's not even part of the Damon Bourne franchise). But Greengrass/Damon have earned my faith at this point, so I'll remain optimistic 'til I'm given a reason not to.

I get it. It's kinda like how Pirates 4 kinda sticks out being the 'lone' movie that doesn't share the main arc from the previous films, but also feels misplaced (hopefully the 5th one can even it out a bit).

I do love that like 95% of this thread has just been complaining about/taking pot-shots at the last movie. Never change fanboys, never change.

I personally think Ultimatum has one of the best endings to a film ever and the best closing scene to a third film along with Toy Story 3 and ROTK. Where it was just so satisfying when it ended that was all you needed and just didn't ever need another film.

I do hope this is not just driven by the probable huge amount of money they threw at them. Even if that was the factor, I do hope in the process the two really found a worthwhile concept they are passionate about telling.

The fifth can either be yet another find the supernatural McGuffin with Jack as the lead or it can be something worthwhile. Right now it seems like it could be the former than the latter. Yet Bloom coming back with the rumors that Henry being Will's son makes it sound promising and gives it that emotional core the movie's have lacked since the first film.

All that's kind of over now with Bourne Legacy.

Not really. Spin-offs that don't include the original team don't count. :oldrazz:

Is one person. Damon/Greengrass made the franchise what it is. And obviously, the character of Jason Bourne. Without any of those components, it's just a wannabe with the brand name. The 1st 3 films (and yes, I know Liman did the first) are their own story, and it finished with the 3rd film. Legacy was an attempt to start a new story/franchise with the brand, and failed.

Greengrass had nothing to do with the original. Tony Gilroy was associated with the franchise before Greengrass was.

The Bourne Legacy is also not a spin-off. It's The Bourne Legacy, not The Cross Legacy. It was presented as a sequel to Ultimatum just without Jason Bourne.

Yeah, we're never gonna agree here. In my book, a movie telling a new story with new leads set in the world of the originals without the star or director of the previous installments is a total spin-off.
