Three words. I AM PISSED.
MEHHH.

Director Steven Spielberg is going to bring the man eating shark to the big screen....AGAIN. Not to direct though, to Co-Produce, and write the script. You wont be seeing the mechanical shark named Bruce anytime soon though.

:csad:

wel it shouldnt be that bad since spielberg is back on

Its only a matter of time before every movie Speilberg has done guns are replaced with Walkie Talkies :wow:

I don't know if I believe this. I read an interview with Spielberg who said the only way Jaws would get remade is if he directed it. Similar to Hitchcock, Spielberg wanted to remake one of his own films. But he went on to say he knows there will not be a warm reception from Jaws fanatics, and thinks the idea will never bear fruit. I wish I had access to the article now so I could post a link and back up what I'm saying, but I don't. You can either believe me or say, "shut up Steve! You're full of s**t."

If they will remake it, nobody can ever top Robert Shaw's awesomeness as Quint, so for that alone they shouldn't bother.

the worst part is that he is the producer.

no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, NO!

WTF? How could Speilberg agree to a remake ot what is easily his best crowd pleasing blockbuster (ie. not Saving Private Ryan, Schindler's List, Munich or Empire of the Sun)?!

What's next? A remake of Gone with the Wind? Citizen Kane? Cassabalanca? the Godfather? Taxi Driver? Network? Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid? The Graduate? Marathon Man? Psycho...oh wait.

Still this should be on the "never remake," list. I mean the sequels tarnished the original enough but have faded into the forgotten and the original stands just not as a landmark blockbuster, but an amazing film circa 1975.

It is scary to think that it is being disrespected like this.

source or die, human!

I agree, source need

I am not against remakes, this though I am against, unless Speilberg does it himself cause you know there where somethings he wished he could do with that back in the day if he had the money

No ****ing way. The movie was all about the atmosphere, the late 70's household with the small town vibe, and there is no way a modern day setting with modern sentiments could work. And the ****ing impeccable cast. No topping Shaw, as was said before. And Scheider and Dreyfuss were also perfect in their roles.

The shark is actually the least impressive aspect to the movie. It's the conflict with the shark, how the characters conflict with the shark, and the affect of the shark that defines this movie. Its about how a small town is ripped apart and how some small men must rise above and deal with it. It really is a family movie, with the first half about Brody and his real family while the second part deals with Brody and his "new" family and their battle with the shark.

No doubt a remake would focus solely on making the shark more realistic, which is stupid.

Although I agree with that, I just don't care to see a CGI shark in a movie again. Look at Deep Blue Sea for example. I know people will laugh when I say this, but for some reason the mechanical shark they used in the original still works for me. Laugh all you want but I still to this day think it looks believable.

I refuse to believe this (or freak out over it) without a valid source.

No, it isn't silly, because with a model we actually KNOW its really there. There's no chance some CGI tech is going to not quite get the lighting or the texture right or something like that. Even the most perfect CGI still looks 'detached' from reality, and it tends to break the 'seam' of the movie and remind us that we're watching a movie, effectively pulling us out of it.

^Agreed. Arguably one of the scariest scenes in the film was the opening scene with the skinny dipper. That was terrifying, and we never even saw the shark once.

Animatronic shark - physical presence but stiff and lifeless

CGI shark - more dynamic but is never really there

Shark in audiences' imagination - scarier than anything that could ever be shown onscreen

I was going to groan and post a sarcastic comment...but then I saw that Spielberg is doing it....now I can't say anything bad. :(

Real Shark with actors locked in tank - Priceless

dont believe that this will happen cause Spielberg is not LUCAS

but just for fun lets imagine a recasting of the original

So....even Spielberg is out of ideas?

He needs to go back to what he does best... science fiction... the World War II set pieces have worn themselves thin... we certainly don't need any more Cold War films... JP4 is dead... no more E.T's either... I was thinking on the grounds of more realistic sci fi... I understand he went there with Minority Report... he needs to do another space epic... we have STILL yet to get a good Mars mission movie... I still think we need another definitive space epic of this time. The 2001 of this generation.

he needs to do another space epic...
considering he's never done a true space movie, i've got one he'd be PERFECT for....at least as co-producer (along with his buddy Peter Jackson)....

...HALO!!!

please this is gonna suck, whats gonna happen at the end everyone the shark eats is gonna come out of the beach house with no explanation
