Iron Man Jeff Bridges is Obadiah Stane

^ I agree with Raiden, you saw the weapons Stane had on his armor, a gattling Gun and Missle launcher, his was built like a Tank , where Stark's in more streamline, like a jet fighter. As has been said, Stane's engineer's and scientists aren't has smart as Tony Stark.

The whole "Tony made one in a cave with scraps" really set the tone for the massive amounts of ******ation suffered by the supporting cast.

The only reason stark was able to make a lighter module was because of his repulsor and flight technology as well as power arc.

stane's tech didn't cover or wasnt aware of those modular designs so technically, yes, it was better, far better than the mark 1 which was the only thing he had to base a design off.

if he had access to stark's technology for the mark 2, i'm sure it would have been smaller.

i believe its general size was to deal with tanks and other general army equipment

That was a funny line. I failed to see how it made the supporting cast "******ed" as you implied in two consecutive posts.

Examples:
Terrorist camp could clearly see Stark wasnt building a missile but decided to let him continue working, not thinking that the top weapons manufacturer in the world might actually build himself a way to get out of there.
Stane apparently was just the PR guy for Stark Industries, he didnt know how to make the arc0light smaller, neither did any of the scientists empolyed there, also he didnt realize that maybe Pepper might be in Stark's office to pick up more than just the paper.
The whole dam Air Force apparently will cover their ears why you talk on your cell-phones, at arm's length away, while a war machine rolls through unrestricted air space.

Don't be stupid for stupid's sake.

1. The terrorist's obviously wouldn't know the process of assembling a missile, or what that process looks like. If they did, they would have built the damn thing themselves. And I think it's obvious they had a hunch he wasn't building the Jericho, that's why Raza went in and interrogated Yensin.

2. Stane was not the PR guy. As explained in the movie, he ran the company after Howard Stark died, before Tony took the reins. It's like a President/CEO relationship. Obviously he didn't know how to make the Arc smaller. As stated in the movie, no breakthroughs had been made in the technology in 30 years, nor had resources been devoted to it since it was deemed fiscally unreasonable. The entire tone of that scene in Stark's office makes it pretty obvious that he thought Pepper was up to something. But you wouldn't want to just come out and accuse her of something, or esle she might become curious if she really wasn't doing anything.

3. I think the fact that they were in the middle of a crisis makes it all the more feasible that they wouldn't bother listening in on Rhodes' cell phone conversation. And, as I remember it, Rhodes never says outloud that it is Tony Stark in a suit. Tony tells him it is, but no one in the room would be able to hear what Tony was saying.

It seems to me like you need to pay more attention to what you are watching....

I was just going to reply to his post but you beat me to it. But yeah, he pretty much sums it up. I didn't think the support cast came off as "******ed" at all.

I think my previous post was misconstrued; I'm not knocking the movie or its supporting cast at all. I'm just remarking on how blindly arrogant & greedy this particular villain was. I feel he brought about his own downfall.

Which is pretty much what all villains do.

Yeah, but this isn't "Y'know, even if I do manage to impale this kid with my glider, it'll probably still get me" or "Maybe I should finish off this guy before he gets back in the machine, gets his powers back & becomes the strongest member of the team." Yes they all make dumb moves, but this one really took the cake. This is systematically orchestrating your downfall.

You really think this was worse than what Goblin and Doom did?

Goblin's actions were spur of the moment. Doom just wanted to eliminate the biggest threat & figured the others would fall like dominoes. If anything, his plan was good, his execution was poor. Stane planned poorly from the get-go. I'm betting had he not needed the power source from Stark, he probably would've just suited up & went about his thing, figuring Stark would come after him but the Monger suit could take him easily.

Thing is, Stane didn't expect Stark to come after him. I'm pretty sure that after he pulled the arc reactor from Starks heart, he pretty much expected him to roll over and die right then and there.

His main objective at the time was to get Tony out of the way and as far as he knew...he did.

I also don't think it was Stane's objective to actually "suit up". He was going to use the Iron Monger and arc technology to turn a profit. But having Pepper discover the truth forced his hand.

Yes it wasn't very well thought out but I think that it is in the same vein as the Goblin, it was very "spur of the moment".

He was a good choice,he played the part well. Someone you could trust,to someone who is a enemy.

Plus, you know, Jeff Bridges is just the awesome at everything he does.

Re-read my post; I said that's what would've happened if he HADN'T needed Tony's arc reactor.

Jeff Bridges (Obadiah Stane/Iron Monger) was in the movie "Starman". A TV series which served as a sequel to "Starman" starred Robert Hays as Bridges' character. Robert Hays did the voice of Tony Stark/Iron Man on the 1990s animated TV series about Iron Man. Robert Hays was also in the movie "Airplane!" with Jeff Bridges' father, Lloyd.

Furthermore, on the afordmentioned "Starman" TV series, Christopher Daniel Barnes played Robert Hays son. Christopher Daniel Barnes would go on to do the voice of Spider-Man on the animated TV series that was around during the same period in which the Iron Man animated series with Robert Hays was on. Meanwhile, Jeff Bridges was in the movie "Seabiscuit" with Tobey Maguire, who of course, played Spider-Man in the live-action movies.

, I love connections like that.

So how does that relate to Kevin Bacon?

.

This is a story all about how
Tony Stark's world got flipped turn upside down
and I'd like to take a minute to ramble and rave
about how he started to build **** in a damn cave.

In Long Island New York, born and raised
in tech labs is where he spent most of his days
chillin out maxin, relaxin all cool
makin some missiles outside of the school
when a couple of terrorists who were up to no good, started makin trouble in his neighborhood
He got in one little fight and Tony Stark got scared
and they said "You're making us a missile get in that cave over there."

I whistled for a suit and when it came near
The ass plate said fresh and it had iron in the mirror
If anything I can say this suit was rave
But I thought 'Now forget it' - 'Yo homes to the cave.'

I shot lots of terrorists, maybe seven or eight,
And I yelled to the leader "Yo homes smell you later"
I flew back home the US was finally saved
To sit on my throne as the Iron Man of the cave.
