The Avengers Jeremy Renner is Hawkeye!

I loved Hawkeye's cameo. He didn't say too much but what he did say was funny, sarcastic and he was totally in control of the situation all he needed was the go ahead.

He didn't do anything though. He could've at least knocked out Thor with a trick arrow or something.

No. He just has a few deadpan lines and does nothing. It's a pretty pointless fan-wank cameo. I get that it's a way to introduce a character who will be important later on but like . . . do a little something more to show us you are cool. Show us you are like this crack archer.

What's the point? People would just whine about him taking the focus away like they do about Black Widow in IM2. It's lose-lose. I'm just happy we get these little nods at all considering the way fans ***** about them after the fact.

I thought his cameo was pretty cool, and his lines (and delivery) were great.

They could have at least shown the accuracy once. Have Thor reaching for something while he was fighting and Hawkeye nails it each time Thor reaches for it.

Yeah, Thor could have been wearing a giant cowboy hat and Hawkeye could have shot it off his head

Hawkeye is my favorite Avenger just because I'm a huge archer and to see him there with his snarkiness and the wonderful Jeremy Renner portraying him gave me a huge smile.

I loved his cameo... it's not something hidden that you have to look out for... it's in your face, and people will be wondering who the heck is that...

It gives you a sense that Shield is actually this big agency with many different heroes already. Works way better than the Black Widow did.

I thought his cameo was completely pointless to be honest.

If he took out Thor with a tranq arrow or something after his rampage and attempt to lift Mjolnir it would have been a little less pointless

Don't get me wrong it was nice to see Clint Barton in live action. But I mean, I was just like "Yea... and?"

Hawkeye and Banner are my favorite Avengers, therefore I am happy that are both in Avengers. Not only that, two of the most interesting actors in America are playing them.

Yeah, Thor could have been wearing a giant cowboy hat and Hawkeye could have shot it off his head

Come on Wolvie! To show his marksmanship skills properly, it'd had to have been a mini cowboy hat.
:woot:

How about a fez? Fez's are cool :P

You just proved Whiskey Tango correct that with fans its a lose-lose situation.

If you use him too much --> "Thor was an add for the Avengers"
too little --> "He didnt have enough time"

I'm greatful that we got to see him even if he did nothing. It helps me feel like this is the Marvel Universe and not just Thor in a real life scenario like say Nolan's movies are doing. I like to feel that the world is full of superheroes, freaks, aliens, etc.

In a similar way i'd love to see Jack Ryder instead of random reporter number 3, Harley Quinzel being a doctor in Akrham even if she's not gonna be Harley Quinn yet, and so on. Its the same as seeing the Lizard Doctor guy in Spiderman 2 even if he didnt become the Lizard.

As for Black Widow and Shield's extended roles in IM2, i loved them too. Anyone who's read an Ironman comic book knows that those characters are IM's Alfred, Gordon and Fox. In fact Shield appears in IM comics 10 times more often than in Thor ones. So the problem was that IM2 didnt handle its subplots as well as it could have. I think that Shield had to be in both movies, serving as the overseer of superheroes.

I digressed. My point is that we shouldnt be afraid of other superheroes appearing, or making cameos in the films. They wont hurt if handled right.

Agreed. And I thought the Hawkeye worked awesomely. I'm glad he didn't shoot Thor because it informed his character so much more, as well as giving Coulson a certain amount of status and power we haven't seen him have yet. In both that scene and the one where Selvig gets him released, we see that Shield actually has the upper hand but remains benevolent in order to fully assess the situation. It fleshed out SHIELD really well, and told the GA that they were the good guys, rather than the 'Men in Black' or machiavellian feds. I think that's important in helping non-comic readers further understand how Shield operates.

LOL Whatever all you guys with BS FANS ARE NEVER HAPPY CRAP.

I guess it doesn't help that I liked the Thor movie? I just didn't care for how they played the cameo.

It's like . . . Incredible Hulk wasn't this big perfect movie. Iron Man 2 was flawed and I can accept that. I love Iron Man but even I can admit it could've maybe done 1 or 2 things better but as an origin film and introduction to Iron Man for live action it was as close to perfect as you can expect.

As much as fans bash stuff fans can just as easily be defensive and overprotective. The movie looks like it will do fine, so chill out.

What are you smoking? Nobody said that. No one challenged whether you liked the movie or not. That's all you. The point was made that somebody is gonna be *****ing no matter how you go about adding in a cameo, and some are just happy they bother to add them at all.
