You know in light of Luke Cage and Iron Fist getting the axe...I have to wonder, with the third season of Jessica Jones being filmed now, last I checked, what if they decide to bookend the third season with no doors left open for a fourth season? You know, on the off-chance they get the hunch or idea that their show might be next on the chopping block.

An article back in June mentioned that season 3 of JJ was already in production. That's well before the cancellations of IF and LC. And I assume, with these Netflix shows, that the entire season is written in advance. So it may be too late to tie up any pre-planned loose ends.

I don't think fears of cancellation will have anything to do with it, especially since Iron Fist and Luke Cage were cancelled for entirely unrelated reasons. But I could see the showrunner wanting to wrap up her contribution to the show with a relatively satisfactory conclusion before Marvel and Netflix have to decide whether to pass the baton to another showrunner.

I think if Netflix indeed cancelled IF and LC based on ratings and creative differences then they won't approve of season 4 of JJ (if there is a season 4) having both cancelled shows piggybacking on; it won't be a season of the Jessica Jones show.

Assuming they do not cancel Jessica Jones before season 3 comes out, what do you want season 3 to be about? Really, I want there to be no more focus on Jessica's past or backstory. I want her to deal with cases that have nothing to do with her backstory. I do not know how much material they can adapt from the old Alias series, but they certainly can use C-list villains that will not be used elsewhere. The Marvel version of Scarecrow started off as a lame gimmick villain who eventually became a nightmarish serial killer who targetted kids and adults. He is mostly associated with Ghost Rider, but GR is not going to get another movie any time soon and Scarecrow likely was never going to be an in a GR movie anyway, that could be an interesting case or maybe they can adapt the drug dealer story from Alias, just switch out Spider-Girl for someone else.

Given the showrunner is leaving after season three, I have to imagine this is done as well. I wasn't expecting Daredevil to end after receiving a lot of praise for season three.

I think Krysten Ritter will do OK. After Jessica Jones, I'm sure she will easily get a bunch of TV or some film offers if this is the last season. This show was a big hit for her.

Yes I hope so. I like her in everything I've seen her in. Would have loved to somehow keep her as this character in the MCU even after the series is cancelled.

Like I said in the Punisher forum, I don't think anyone is shocked by this. Now the waiting game begins to see if these shows can come to Hulu in the future. I hope they are brought back for more seasons on Hulu.

I am glad at least they're being up front about this being the last season of Jessica Jones now and not a month after the fact.
