They do stuff like that all the time. Taking an intrest in books that the avarage non internet fanboy hasn't heard about. Matt Fraction's Casanova, the Exterminators, they even did a big thing on the Crossgen stuff back in the day. Pushed it even though nobody was buying it. (myself included.)

The only Crossgen I bought was El Cazador, Dixon and Epting. Dude, I couldnt say no.

Do you read any Marvel to speak of? I mean, I'm a DC fan myself, but I could name 20 Marvel issues from this year that were better than, say, anything in Catwoman.

Yeah, more than I wish I did...

In the last year I've bought issues/storylines dealing with/including:

*Spider-Man: The Other
*Son of 'M'
*X-Men: Deadly Genesis
*Civil War, and it's tie-ins including FF, NewAvengers, She-Hulk, and a couple of others.
*Ultimates
...and some others but I don't have time to list, I have to leave work

Considering I listed an Ultimates 2 as my best issue of the year, you shouldn't be surprised, nor "sorry", we disagree on the best mini of the year as well. Personally, I think Mad Monk's been every bit as good as Monster Men.

In any case, I was joking about my second point. Annihilation may very well be the best mini of the year. Unfortunately, I haven't read it yet, so I can't make any assumptions period about it.
