After revealing a few days ago that Gwendoline Christie will be returning for Episode VIII, now Kennedy confirmed that Oscar Isaac and John Boyega will also appear in the movie, in the company of Benicio del Toro, who multiple times confirmed his involvement with the project. Filming for Episode VIII is expected to start at the end of January.

I've read the sample from the new novel Before The Awakening.

FN-2187 (Finn) was is in the top 1% of all Stormtroopers in his abilities. He is commended by Captain Phasma as exemplary, but notices that he has a "dangerous level of empathy" because he helps his fellow Stormtroopers as FN-2187 wants to help the weak links. She reports to General Hux.

FN-2187 remembers little from before he started training as a Stormtrooper. He was taught that the First Order is good, and the Republic is bad, and FN-2187 doesn't doubt this. But he's never been deployed before, and he's looking forward to it.

Also, Finn and the other FO Stormtroopers train on something like the holodeck from Star Trek for battlefield simulations.

Kind of bums me out that Finn is not a force user. I mean when I think lightsaber weilder. I think Jedi,but appearntly JJ Abrams reventing the wheel.

Non force users have been using lightsabers in the star wars universe for decades. Han did it first in ESB, and the EU has had countless non force users using a lightsaber. Both the old and new EU. A month or two back in the comics Han, Leia, and Cheiwe all three used sabers to escape a gladiator pit of death.

It's just a weapon. A highly dangerous weapon, but anyone who can use a sword can use one. Non force users can't block blaster bolts with a lightsaber and aren't as fast with one, and they can't build them, but they can use a lightsaber as well as they can use any sword. That's how it's always been.

The reason Finn knows how to use one so well is due to the First Order training some Storm Troopers to use them. Finn has been trained since he was a very little kid to fight and kill Jedi and Resistance fighters. Part of his extensive training involved lightsaber combat.

Me too. Still hoping he is FS but if he is not than I call JJ/Disney's marketing of the character complete ******** and gross. All in effort to hide that the protagonist of freaking star wars movie is force user and will fight the antagonist of the movie. I'm shocked I tell you shocked. Lets insult the audience's intelligence while getting up the hopes of millions of people only to say ha ha fooled you idiots. The whole thing would make no sense if Finn's character arc doesn't have anything to do with being force user.

The idea that anyone can use LS well enough totally ruins the special of LS for me also.

I know others don't see it that way but I don't really care. Is how I would feel about the whole thing and it would be bridge to tarabithia all over again.

Han picking it up to cut something doesn't equal to a character actually using it in full fights. He wasn't also advertised with it non stop cause that wasn't his arc and marketers of that movie new to respect the character of Han. Don't read the comics so don't care really.

Anyways don't want to get into this discussion. I have seen it repeated in every finn thread non stop. Just stating how I would feel about this whole situation if it turns out to be all a lie.
