If John Wick's goal was freedom, why kill that dude in the second movie?

I've loved all the John Wicks myself as well.I feel like all 3 films are equally consistent in quality. I know the world building has taken center stage, but the fights, and cinematography have just gotten progressively more groundbreaking for me. It's rare for a movie this day and age to be worth the price admission on fight scenes alone. Thankfully, these films have more than that going for them as well. I love the neo-noir neon lit world these movies inhabit. It's just a badass setting! Plus the cast in all the movies have been fantastic.
Also, before anybody asks, i have seen The Raid films and I loved them. I just enjoy John Wick more though.

I know I’m in the minority but some of the fights feel repetitive after awhile.I feel like all 3 films are equally consistent in quality. I find this is true of most action films.I know I’m in the minority but some of the fights feel repetitive after awhile.
