Action-Adventure John Wick: Chapter 4

Action movies and adventure films.
I 100% think we will get Chapter 5. I can see a few story ideas setup in this film. I also understand exactly why we won't see it for sometime. I do not know how you top this. They did everything. EVERYTHING. They even "borrowed" some moments and music from two of my other favorite films of all time.

Turning this into a spaghetti western was such a smart idea. The tone, the breadth, the characters. It all just fits so well. I'm also just blown away by the pacing. The Batman was a breeze at the same length. This might be breezier. Which is... how? :funny:

The action is just another level. They start it with a better version of the finale from Chapter 3. I don't know how. But they did. Berlin is a great throwback to the first film, and the finale is a hybrid of scenes from the second and third film on speed.

The Hotline Miami sequence with dragon's breath? I need to see how they built the set. It's just awe inspiring.

The action was so good, my father in his 70s, was cracking up. Same for my brother and I. It was so absurd what was happening, that we were involuntarily dumbfounded. And yet with all that, they didn't forget the all important character moments. Not just around the action scenes, but in them. The film is just so fully realized, I don't even know if I want to see the 3:45 min cut. While I'm sure it has some great material, it can't be better then this. It's so fine tuned and says so much, I don't think it can be better.

With this films length it actually makes repeat viewings MORE appealing, there are so many kills and moments from the first third of the film that seem like a distant memory but were equally as fun at the time but the last 45mins kind of blows your mind so much its like a round house kick to your memory bank.

I'm not sure if I will get the chance to see it again in the cinema but I certainly will be trying to.

Just wish I wasn't so busy now as 3 hour screenings plus the time around it is a lot to fit in right now, and add on all the other great films this month I haven't seen yet. I used to watch all films I liked multiple times, the best ones double digits. Nearly all MCU/Star Wars films till the pandemic 3+ times, and I would have expected to see something like this maybe 4 times, plus me and my sis are massive Keanu Reeves fans. I've loved hearing the views in here and reading a bunch of reviews. Mathematically going to be very unlikely I don't love this given I love all the prior films in the franchise - and would love watching Reeves even in a terrible film. :D

I do think we'll get another film, but with this one being so damn good, I just don't see how they could top it. It's gonna be near impossible honestly. This is like TDK of John Wick movies haha. I don't have a grin on my face often at the cinema these days that lasts a long time, but it happened with this one. it's a perfect movie.

Yeah anyone who wasnt a fan of 1-3 probably are not going to be converted by this, by this time you know what you are getting with Mr Wick but then who knows, but if you ARE a fan then you are going to love the vast majority of it. It may not be number 1 for you out of the four films, all of them have their merits and pro's and con's in their own right, but there's plenty of stuff that will stick in your mind long after the film finishes, the action is on par with 3 and probably goes beyond but it has other elements which add to it, there's a single shot of Winston walking along a corridor and that alone is breathtaking to look at and its not even an action scene.

Some of the philosphy and discussions had between Wick and Donnie Yen and Hiroyuki Sanada's character are something not touched on before and really added a lot to this one for me. A shorter run time might have cut some of those parts and they are equally as engrossing as some of the great action pieces. Its great that these two got their time to shine and had major parts in the movie to play, not throw away or just enlarged cameo's which does happen to Eastern actors in Western films sometimes, they got the respect they deserved as actors and I appreciated this film a whole lot more for it.

There's a lot of great lines that stick in the memory as well from this one, another string to this films already impressive bow.

Sounds like the ultimate payoff to those who are already JW fans. To be fair you don't usually get significantly more new viewers with your 4th film and it's hard to convert those who haven't already been converted.

Nice, I didn't know they both had solid roles here but good to know.

I can't stop thinking about this movie. The magic that I witnessed is just pure bliss. Can't wait to see it again tomorrow!

95% critic score on RT, 96% audience score, and an 8.6/10 on IMDB.
Up to 96% on RT and 97% audience score. One of the few films I've seen increase as more critics and audiences review it. I'll probably be going tomorrow and I can't wait.

Every single person has raved about this so far!! No “it was decent/good/fine” - superlatives all the way.

The people will demand a JW5 and they shall ..get it. *convincing voice*

We have "Ballerina" on the way so its not like we have to wait long to go back into this world in some way.

This film is amazing!
I will watch as many John Wick films as they make, but I do think this is a more than satisfactory place to end it should. Hard to go out on a higher note than this one

This was one of the most jaw-dropping action films I've ever witnessed.

Haven't felt that way since Mad Max: Fury Road. I now don't look forward to any action film simply because they raised the bar so high in this, I doubt anything in the next 3-4 years (at least) will be able to top or at least match it.

Brilliant choreography and camera work.

Donnie Yen was amazing and stole every scene he was in.

And credit to Keanu for the insane effort he put in his action scenes in this one. I cringe at the fact the most they gave him in Resurrections was a "force push", considering what he put on display in this film.

10/10 - easily. I need to see it again asap.

Man, I am so glad someone else said this, because I couldn't agree more. I know some people here enjoyed it and I mean no disrespect towards them, but Keanu's physicality was beyond wasted in that movie.

I mean you see what he's actually capable of and willing to put his body through in all four of these movies and the best we could get in that fourth Matrix movie is him force pushing people?

Such a shameful waste of his talent IMO.

I'm in the same boat right now. I have like this intense urge to rewatch it and I don't want to watch anything else honestly. This film was the definition of perfect, and that's extremely hard to achieve honestly. I'm on a wick high right now!

I did love Matrix Resurrections, but yes Keanus physicality was a bit wasted there. The guy is 58 years old and what he managed to accomplish here is nothing short of awe inspiring. Anybody who has not seen this movie yet is missing out badly.

Got to be honest, before I started seeing the crazy reactions in here I could easily have seen Creed III or D&D or Shazam first (I’m very behind since Feb), but no choice now. Totally convinced by all the above.

Creed 3 was great, but this one is definitely a must see on the biggest, loudest screen possible Iceman and hopefully you also get to see it with the right audience because that's what makes the experience even better IMO.

You know how I feel about D&D. I definitely say still see it, but yes. Do Chapter 4 first. And then maybe do it another two times. Then watch the others. :cwink:

Feel like there's a steep drop off here between John Wick 4, Creed III, D&D, and Shazam. Shazam will be available to rent in less than a month already too.

Saw Shazam. It's not terrible, and I'm sure a fan of DC will get something out of it in general. But I don't feel like it's a big screen experience. Not like John Wick 4 is. I'd even say the same for D&D, but it's a great movie, and seeing it on the big screen is worth the effort. Still need to catch up on the Creed series, because I'm fool!
