I LOVE Frank Miller's take on Joker. I find him so fascinating and so eerie. I know Ledger used Moore's Killing Joke as inspiration, but I would argue his Joker was more like Frank Miller's.

The way it's portrayed in the animated movie is so horrifying.

and the BTAS Joker is great, but yeah i agree. too safe for the movies. Something more monstrous and scary like Morrison's and Miller's Jokers from ASHOSE and TDKR is the way to go imo

Ledger was more or less like Joker from ASHOSE. He was monstrous and disturbing, in his own way.

This Joker should be refined as in the sense he's calmly eating dinner in a fancy restaurant, surrounded by dead bodies at their tables, with smiles on their faces!
That scene with Jack (B89) talking to Rotelli's charred corpse as if it was talking back was sick.
Before straightening his tie and laughing like a looney.

He was my choice for Lex but Michael C. Hall would knock the Joker role out of the park too. Honestly just throw him into to any Batman villain and he'd kill it.

Look-wise, he is a perfect mix of Sean Penn and Adrian Brody. It's uncanny.

Talent-wise, he's a celebrated character actor, and Academy-Award-nominated. The man is a chameleon. He could take this character any number of directions and still land on something memorable. And you'd better believe you wouldn't recognize him.

He's older than Affleck, but not by so much that the two characters couldn't have a credible long-term relationship and history.

He brings the looks and the pedigree. In my opinion, it's a perfect match post-Ledger.

Smith has the look, but could he do the menace ?

I think Michael Sheen would be a strong candidate, Cumberbatch too (but I think his voice is a little too deep for the Joker).

It's a hard role to cast. Here's one people haven't mentioned, but I think is worth a look, the craziest man in Hollywood......Nick Cage !
