Joker's OTF Switchblade

See, I was looking at the handle. The Troodon has a lot of blade variations but one handle. The purple color is the color, just didn't look at the blade too closely. I still haven't been able to get an Imax ticket either, the two theaters near me have been staying sold out.

This is the best I have...not very clear, but the blade shape can be seen somewhat...hope these help...:yay:

Ah, that knife IS different- but still not as iconic as the clone

Correction for earlier thread: I was wrong...the grenades are hooked to his purple overcoat, not the blazer...you can see the orage lining, and the closed, front lapel of the blazer in these caps...

Those are nice screen caps. A bit dark, but you can see the shape of the blade. Troodon SE for sure. Looks like you'd be able to catch the handle color as well if you watch for it. When I was it at the IMAX I also noticed the teeth of the serations. They never show the right side of the blade so they aren't as noticable.

I'd really like to get one of those clone knives the Joker uses (without the serrations)... If anyone has one they'd like to sell or trade for, PM me. I have a brand new DC Direct Joker I'm willing to part with, among other things.

Went to the bladeplay site and they're out of stock. Anybody know any other sites that are selling the 1600 OTF Extractor???

No. I've been looking around, and I can't seem to find one anywhere. That's why I was trying to see if I could buy or trade with someone who has it.

The craigslist guy is selling them a lil pricey. I'd wait till dellsmart has the TRUE ones back in. They are out of stock, but they were 19.99. The "Fake" as he calls it, is the one i have in the bottom picture. The cupid 3. Very good quality. the cupid 3's at dellsmart.com are only 24.99 free shipping(which only takes a few days). I'm waiting till they have the real one back in and will prolly pick it up, 19.99 is a steal.

I just hate how when a good movie comes out alot of places jack up the price. Dellsmart is actually really cool when it comes to that. They are obviously trying to make money off of the idiots by calling the knife that is not the one in the movie the Joker knife. But the one that they had that is the real true one was the cheapest i have seen yet. Trick the fools whilst giving the true fans the goods. They will have them back in stock sooner or later.

Fortunatly for me, OTF Auto's are legal where I live. So I can have the whole collection if I could afford it. :woot:
I found the right Troodon blade style, but the handle is black. I'll probably have get that one as I would imagine a purple one would be much more costly, with it being so rare.

I found one purple Troodon, which was selling for a mint. I didn't purchase it, as I still have a few friends in the knife collecting world looking out for one for me. I wasn't paying $1200 for the knife when I can get it for less than $600 at a show when someone has one.

Yeah, so unless they re-relase them in a more mass produced fashion, it'll probably be out of mine, as well as most other peoples price ranges.

Finally got my clone in the mail today. It's funny...I didn't realize it was such a cheaply made knife, it reminds me of something you'd win at a carnival if you pop all the balloons by throwing darts. May be that's where Joker got his, may be it was his first knive, hence his being partial to it despite it being a POS.

I read somewhere online supposedly by a company who studied the knife and made expensive reproductions of it, that basically the prop makers based their design off of a dalton. So I think that for this 'hero' prop, they used a knife similar, and almost identical to the clone sold. I think different knives were used during production, including the microtechs, but I don't think the main OTF knive the Joker uses is a quality, brand-name piece.

Of course, jigsawklr could still prove me wrong on that one.

Yeah...a heavier spring, and some type of blade shim to keep it from wobbling would be an improvement....:cwink:
Rob

Well, if you got a heavier spring that was long enough, it might force the blade to stay in place without any wobble. As it is, the spring is pretty... meh, and doesn't stretch from the end of the knife to the blade.

I thought I might try stretching my stock spring and see what happens...
Rob

Not what you'd hope. The spring is pretty flimsy, nowhere near enough "oomph" to hold the blade in place without any wobble. It only gets its strength when its compressed.
To really get what you'd want, you'd need a longer spring with a bit more stiffness. Not so much as to make it obscenely hard to retract the blade, but enough to keep the blade stable when out.

Thans, bro...think I'll hit the Lowes or HD to see if they have something I can use....
Rob

If anybody needs a clone knife like the Joker's I may be getting a second for cheap...and I don't need two. So PM if you're interested, and I'll let you know when and if it comes in the mail.
