I was looking for everyone... sort of what you see in those cast the Marvel Universe threads.
Here you go. Obviously some of this is conjecture and rumor, only the first 4 are 100%

Thor: Chris Hemsworth

Jane Foster: Natalie Portman

Loki: Tom Hiddleston

Sif: Jaimie Alexander

Those actually make a lot of sense...wonder who they'd get as Baldur.

i am guessing Matthias Schweighöfer who said he was in the running for a Thor role

Isn't he a younger guy this Matthias fellow? I thought Baldur was visually older than Thor. Like an older brother type. Could be though.

Chill out dude... I just don't buy the rumor. And if it is these guys then I don't expect them to be more than 15 minutes especially for DeNiro. And I just don't know about DeNiro for Odin. And R & B was animated... not exactly the same animal we are dealing with here.

Yes sorry man I went off on one.

But why is it hard for you to believe this rumour? Sure we don't know if it's fact yet, but your basically scoffing at it like "Pah! These guys would never appear in Thor! And if so, only in cameos!"

Why do you think that? The two actors in question have been in terrible films before, Thor is not beneath them.

And it makes sense that Branagh would be after guys like this. As you have said before, with a relative unknown as the lead, the big names have gotta come in as supporting roles.

But yea I agree, not De Niro for Odin. I'm thinking Ymir.

I've never been a Thor fan but this movie keeps sounding better and better. Sure hope it all works out well in the end. :woot:

Not to mention they have a history with Branagh. And from what I have heard over the years actors find him a joy to work with because of his acting history himself.

And you leave out Keneth Branagh.... way to go genius... :cmad:

I should have prefaced by saying it wouldn't be hard for me to believe if they are small supporting roles, which I believe they will be if this is legit.

I meant the guy that played Gimli Son of Groin/Sallah... John-Rhys Davies right? Sorry about that.

Exactly, Branagh is an actors director. I imagine it would be brilliant to work with him.

By George, this is perfect.

Gotta agree! :yay::up:
Chewy should have used the photo of Skarsgard from King Arthur, though. Once I saw that I had no trouble picturing him as Odin.

Have to say, what a masterstroke if the rumour is true. Law has already been suggested on here for the movie and DeNiro......well, it's come out of nowhere's but, it's freaking Robert - De - Niro.

I mean, wow.

It's not really that implausable considering both of their links with Branagh, with Sleuth and Frankenstein respectively; and adds to the idea that the movie needed some marquee names to compliment the promising 'lesser-known' actors already cast.

One things for sure, if the cast that both Project862006 and Chewy have posted example pics of gets finalised and ill be under the guidance of Branagh, we potentially have one helluva film on our hands.

Swap around Stellan Skarsgard and Robert DeNiro and add Matthias Schweighöfer as Balder, and I think you've nailed it.

sorry but Stellan is perfect for Odin

120465764697138kingarth.jpg

thats Stellan from King Arthur

I agree. Stellan Skarsgard was long my top pick for Odin, even when others were throwing around Brian Blessed's name, and when I heard Stellan had been added to the cast, I thought they had found the ideal Odin.

But though I think he's a better fit for Odin than DeNiro, I also think Skarsgard would be a MUCH better fit for Hogun than DeNiro would. Plus, if Branagh has somehow been able to actually get ROBERT FREAKIN' DENIRO in his superhero movie, you know he's not going to waste this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity by giving him a small supporting role like Hogun. He's going to give him the biggest part available, and that part is Odin.

EDIT: I also think Skarsgard could pull off Heimdall, if they wanted to go for an Asian actor for Hogun. Skarsgard could play a lot of people in the Thorverse!

should be very interesting to see who all these guys will play and if its confirmed deniro and law are in.

If it turns out to be true, it'd be kinda funny. Thor will have gone from a film whose big setback was a no name cast to a film practically suffering from an embarassment of riches with more big names than parts available for them.

I don't know. People like Robin Williams and Billy Crystal had small roles in Branagh's Hamlet. I could see him stacking up somewhat small supporting roles with his buddies/big name thespians
