^Ha ha, but Perlman is long and skinny also, just nto as much as Jones.

Perlman is already immortalized as Hellboy. For Dredd we need an actor who hasn't yet played or made such a mark on a comicbook icon. Adam Baldwin, Sean Bean, Johnny Messner, Clancy Brown, and Dominic Purcell are actors who just may have what it takes to make such a mark with Judge Dredd.

Dominic Purcell looks too Latin for my taste. I've never pictured Dread looking Latin or Mediterranean.

I like Sean Bean and Adam Baldwin for the role though.

You know how there are certain roles that you're convinced people are born for?

After my earlier Doug Jones/Jude Death suggestion, I decided to go onto Google images and find some good comparison shots.

Well, you know how Death loves to do all those creepy gestures with his hands?

I swear, almost all of Dougs photos are of him making weird, expressive han gestures. :woot:

Hell, even his roles in both Hellboy and PL are massively expressive characters with their hands/long fingers.

I tell you, the role of Judge Death would fit Jones like a glove.

;)

Hmmm? Well, I don't know about that, honestly, but the man has one hell of a rock-strong chin and that's the only part of his face you would see in the movie. He also has a strong voice.

Hmmmm fair point.

Yo SuperB, you have convinced me that Doug Jones IS Judge Death.

Okay, you've sold me, Jones would be THE perfect man for Judge Death, even JD's mouth in some of those pics are exactly like Doug's in the likes of Pan's Labyrinth and Hellboy 2.

Also, Judge Death's initials are JD, and Doug's are DJ, coincidence, fate? You decide :wow:.

...let Geoffrey Rush be the voice of Death.

I have a feeling, though, that Judge Death might not show up until a second film. Like Batman Begins, they just might go with less "loud" villains like Chief Judge Cal, Captain Skank, War Marshall Kazan, The Angel Family, The Brotherhood of Darkness, Mechanismo, The Troggies, and The Neon Knights. There's ofcourse Rico, but that would be kinda' repetitive since he was in the last film.

.....and don't even get me started with Don Uggie Apelino.:woot:

^They would be better going all out in the first movie, if not, god knows what we'll end up with, but they need to choose a suitable and interesting villain, thats for sure.

Bring on Fear, Mortis, Fire and Death. "The crime isss life. The ssssentence is death." Maybe they could be done like Grendel in Zemekis' Beowulf ?

I wonder if Simon Pegg is aware of all this; given that he's one of us, it would be cool to think he could somehow be instrumental in getting 2000AD films off the ground - what with his rising stick and influence in Hollywood and all.

Come to think of it, I wonder if there are other players in Hollywood who are genuine fans of 2000AD and would be interested in pitching in?

"Gaze into the face of Fear..."
"Gaze into the fist of Dredd !"

I hope I get to see that awesome exchange between Fear and Dredd someday on the big screen.
And bring back Rob Schneider (just kidding:hehe:).

ha, my first post...

I love judge dredd and here's my two cents for potential actors playing a few key roles...

Patrick Warburton (live action The Tick..haha) as Dredd
Hudson Leick (Calisto in Xena) as Judge Anderson
Kristanna Loken (Bloodrayne) as Judge Hershey

I know Warburton sounds like a crazy idea, but I love his voice and it would be a first to see him in an action movie (I think)

Would much rather have Adam Baldwin or Tom Jane for the role of Dredd, that the guy uou suggest, I like Loken as Hersey though, but they need a few big names in there as well to get some of the GA interested.

I have a feeling the first film won't feature the Dark Judges. We need to see Dredd and his universe develop before we throw in the major villains. I wouldn't mind seeing the Angel family included.

i could be happy with tom jane as dredd...

and as far as story goes, if we see the angel gang, i want to see fink angel too this time and dredd chasing him around Resyk, if anyone remembers that story...

 Tom Jane and Adam Baldwin I would be more than happy with, I dont think either would have a problem keeping the helmet on all game either.

Nah; RT doesnt need a huge star as it's lead - I say let the character, settings and story sell the movie. Cast someone who looks the part and can act sufficiently without having to say that much and surround him with higher calibur actors/stars.

Seeing how RT is a 2000AD character and 2000AD is British - give the lead to a British guy who has experience with sci-fi movies, looks the part and can kick ass like no other on screen.

I'm talking the one, the only, Gary Daniels:-

Just get the guy who does the maekup for the Blue Man Group and we're golden.

:D

I'm joking, of course - but someone who looked as good as Gary Daniels would be perfect for a genetically perfect soldier like Rogue.

Anyway, sorry to keep off-topic (come to think of it, perhaps a 2000AD films thread would be a cool idea)

^Who is he SB?

And I just realised you screen name isnt named after that cock-head of a manager is it :cwink:

Grrrr

We'll see if he's a cock-head at the end of the season, no? :D

Anyways, Gary Daniels - probably best known as the lead in the live action Fist of the North Star movie (which Gary wasnt too happy with as the editing butchered some of his absolutely awesome choreography) - that movie was supposed to make him but unfortunately, it didnt happen.

A real nice guy and a huge comic fan - I'd like to see him feature somewhere in all of this. Definately deserves a shot in a decent budgeted genre film.
