They should atleast give Stallone a cameo as an older Judge , Jason Statham would be my choice as Judge Dredd
I'd rather see Diane Lane return.

Seconded for Statham as Dredd (or thirded, fourthed, don't know who else agreed).

Statham has a good physique for Dredd. The face doesn't really matter because Judge dredd never shows his face.

^Statham cant do an American accident for toffee though, I want someone who sounds like Dredd not a cockney trying to do an american accent.

Didn't Dredd originate in the UK? I don't see the problem.

I've read Dredd comics for about twenty years and I've never seen the writers make him sound remotely British in his dialect or word balloons. I realize that the character originated in Britain, but I thought that Mega City-1 was like an overpopulated, futuristic version of New York City?

I've even seen the Statue Of Liberty drawn in alot of the background scenes of his comics.

^Exactly, he has never been depicted as English and the movie would be a stupid place to start doing that, he is an american character written by english people.

So a cockney sounding american wouldnt be the right way to go for me.

Yeah, Dredd's American.

I could see Statham playing Rogue Trooper or Johnny Alpha though.

Statham tried an American accent in The One, and it slipped here and there. I still don't see what the issue would be if he attempted a flawed American accent with Dredd.

^Wasnt Rogue Trooper american also?

Possibly, although I've never really imagined him as such when I've read a RT story. I guess it could go either way; I wouldnt be too unhappy which ever way they went AS LONG AS THE BLOODY FILM GOT MADE (!!!)

I'd love for Johnny Alpha to have a down and dirty, working class British accent though (dont ask me why - just do).

What do you reckon Aveit - a scouse Strontium Dog?

:D

Doesnt matter how you look at it, a flawed attempt at an accent is still a failed accent in my book.

The Ones was just embarrassing at times.

Depends on whether it sounds good or bad, I guess.

But given that the character is American - well, I always like things to be accurate.

It was servicable.

Sly hasnt got a particularly great voice in general, but his voice was the least of that movies problems.

Reboot = Judge Fear, Mortis, Fire and Death. (Hopefully).

*cough!* Rob Schneider!

The comic relief really wasn't needed.

There's a hilarious outtake on the 'making of' where Schneider accidentally falls face 1st down a flight of steps. Hard.

Now that was comedy.

I always imagined him as American as well, although its so long ago I can barely remember, I remember playing the game on the Commodor 64!

Thats box office gold right there :woot:.

Agreed, The Transporter was the same, it just keeps taking you out of the movie and can be distracting, clear accents please !

_ "Gaze into the face of Fear...
_ Gaze into the fist of Dredd!"

I hope I get to hear and see that on the big screen some day.

Not sure if anyone else cares for this, but I'd love for the reboot to take on Garth Ennis' Goodnight Kiss storyline or at least take references from it.

It was a pretty straightforward read but it did have some interesting characters along the way. Well, I enjoyed it.

If that reboot happens, i hope they hire Brian Bolland in some capacity. Art Director, storyboards, art work, posters etc... Whatever, but I think it would cool to have him in there.
Oh and also, bring on the Dark Judges ! And incorporate some elements from that great Dredd adventure where he has to cross Mutie Land and happens upon Mount Rushmore where the mutant leader has carved his face next to the other American presidents, great visual:awesome:.
