Ok, Dredd costume is okay a little too realistic if you ask me. Don't get me wrong I'm a huge proponent of realism in certain movies but this is not one of them.I would of preferred a more fantasia approach to the costumes. However if this movie is any good I can get past it, its only a costume

Is it just me or does Judge Lex look eeiry like Timothy Olyphant?

People might have disliked the first Movie, I honestly couldn't complain since I didn't know the comics, but I hope at least everyone can agree that Stallone looked badass as Dredd.

The new guy just doesn't look imposing or anything. That one black Judge looks more intimidating and also less scrawny.

In full gear, yes, Stallone did look good, in a more, as Paradox1 said, "fantasia approach", like maybe "Logan's Run" or "Flash Gordon".

However, I look at Karl Urban and I look at someone who is to be taken more seriously. The gear he wears clearly indicates the dangerous environment he inhabits. Of all the comicbook heroes, he(well, he and The Punisher) is the one who has the most reason to be dressed "realistically".

I like the new costume my only problem with it is the eagle shoulder pad isn't big enough.

The costume has a more grounded look to it that I like, though with the x on top of the visor, it must be tough for the actors to see through it. Thirbly looks great as Anderson by the way.

Well, that's their problem. LOL!! However it may look from the inside of those helmets, as long as in the film the actors act geniunely in regards to the helmet's supposed function(and not tripping or hitting walls), all should be good.

Haha, poor lads. Imagine how it is for the actors who has to wear the helmets when it comes to shooting the action scenes.

...ask David Prowse and Bob Anderson(Darth Vader), Jeremy Bullock(Boba Fett), Temuera Morrison(Jango Fett), and the actors inside the Storm Troopers suits.:cwink:

excited for this i hear the script is good too for those who have read it can you confirm that ,it has a good writer

Alex Garland(Sunshine,Never Let Me Go,28 Days Later)

...he also did the latest script for "Logan's Run".

I have read the script. I reviewed it for a website. The film is more like die hard crossed with blade runner. This Dredd is the Dredd you read.

Wait, what? Karl Urban is the new Dredd?

Then it's even more disappointing that he looks so scrawny.

Still not liking the helmet, its just too bulky and looks too big for Urban's head, like the rest though, so I am still hopeful.

You don't like Karl Urban? Fair enough.

However, I would suggest you give some details to your statements(more layered ones), and avoid giving the impression that you're just being dismissive for the sake of being dismissive.

I think he looks good. More like the Dredd from the earlier comics

Really enjoyed the Empire article, it gives me a little more hope that they are taking this seriously and was especially impressed by Urban's comments, I still dont like the costume, especially the helmet, but if the movie is good I can easily ignore it.

Hoping for a good movie.
The helmet appears to sit about an inch too high on the head. Maybe the costume designer didn't take top helmet padding into consideration??
I did come across the Judge Dredd Total War graphic novel cover and it looks very similar to the movies helmet. Maybe that's where they based the design instead of the more stylistic, head hugging helmet.

I do like the look of everything else I've seen of the new movie....

I like how they added prostectics to Urban's mouth but yeah...Stallone's outfit looks more appealing and iconic.

Well I hope the movie is good. I'm glad they aren't going for a huge budget and it is only about $45 million. I want to like the movie because I love the comics and character. I'm not crazy about the first story and villain choice, but whatever it might work.

At the same time, I really want the movie to be good because this could be Dredd's last shot. I want to see Judge Death on film.
