Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle

I don't think even a likable cast can save this, and moving it the weekend after Star Wars definitely isn't going to help either.

Goosebumps not Ghostbusters. It's more comparable to Goosebumps and given the premise it seems like it's marketed to that same audience.

Damn, I don't know how the hell I misread that. Gotta stop trying to multi-task. :funny:

Anyway, that may be so, but I think it's performance will be mediocre at best. Even if they're marketing it towards the same audience, there's no telling how interested said audience will be when it rolls around.

Of course I could always be wrong and this could surprisingly be a hit but as of now, I think it's going to be a dud.

The only thing keeping me from saying this will bomb is that Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart are in it. People eat them up.

Wait. I forgot about The Last Jedi opening the week before this. One would think that would be an automatic death sentence, but Daddy's Home survived against The Force Awakens so who knows...

Lets hope Jumanji has a $70 million budget like Daddy's Home.

Sony also moved it back 2 days earlier to December 20 to try and get a jump on Pitch Perfect 3, The Six Billion Dollar Man, Downsizing and Bastards. However, The Last Jedi is a category 5 hurricane that will push everything aside.

I think opening on December 1 gives the film 2 weeks with very little competition as the November blockbusters are fading at that point and nothing of note is scheduled for December 1 or 8. But this is Sony and they don't want to look scared.

The trailer will be released with Spider-Man: Homecoming.

Am I the only one who's excited?

I would be flabberghasted if this turned out to be worthwhile.

It has Karen Gillan. That is where my interest starts and ends.

We'll see how it looks. The trailer is probably gonna be goofy as ****, but the movie itself may be passable.

To be honest, I keep forgetting that this production even exists.

1 week after TLJ.... Yeah, this doesn't stand a chance.

Daddy's home and Sing did well enough against Star Wars films. Non Star Wars film are going to do well this December. Its all about the visuals and quality with this film that will decide its fate.

No, it is not. It is mostly about the budget that will decide whether the film will make profit or not. The Rock is one of the highest paid actors in Hollywood. In addition, the visuals will grant an even higher budget.

In addition, TLJ is probably going to have a massive 2nd weekend. TFA only dropped 39% in its 2nd weekend.

Lastly, add the fact that this is a sequel to a 22-year old film. The hype and appeal for it won't be as huge.

Combine all of this and Jumanji doesn't really stand a chance.

Of course, I may be wrong. Let's first see the trailer.

I hope this flops like Baywatch and Dwayne starts to pick roles instead of paychecks...like a lot of his upcoming potential turds on the horizon.

Such as Rampage?

Rampage feels like its going to be like Pixels.... They can't seriously make a serious movie with that source material right?

But yeah, Dwayne Johnson fatigue maybe setting in a little. I think Kevin Hart is also a big draw for this film, almost as much as Dwayne.
