Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle

Uh, just by looking at Karen Gillian and Kevin Hart I think I know what's gonna happen now. Come on internet, do your thing.

Im not sure if you are making a joke..but if you are not, what do you think happens? I dont know what to make of this pic so Im curious as to what other people see.

He thinks Hart and Gillian are together. They may very well be, though I suspect they're sticking her with Johnson.

Oh ok thanks. So this might be a good indication that go into the game this time like the animated series.

I wonder who out of the cast in that picture are from the real world and not a part of the game. I feel like The Rocks character might be from the game.

Surprised they don't seem to have any kids as the main characters

I think that comes later. Young families will see this movie regardless, but they need to build buzz with the four well-known adult cast members so people like us will want to see it. I suspect the plotline is that Hart is a dopey dad from the real world who has to rescue his kids with the help of three cartoonish action-hero characters. So you'll have a sideplot of the kids running away from danger, etc.

I'm guessing Johnson, Gillan and Black are in-game characters that are satires of Indiana Jones, Lara Croft and Dr. Livingstone.

That could be the case.

I'm guessing Kevin Hart is playing the overprepared and scared ****less regular guy

Must resist urge to make Lara Croft joke with Karen Gillan. Too easy. And yeah, I think that Rock, Gillan, and Black are in-game characters(and also parodies of Indiana Jones, Lara Croft, and Dr. Livingston) as well.

I'm worried and turned on at the same time. Wow she's hot!

Given that The Rock and Jack Black are involved, and the ridiculous-sounding character names, I'm guessing that there will be quite a lot of parody/self-referential humor in this film.

-Indiana-Rock (or Nathan Johnson if you prefer) isn't nearly as smooth and badass as he first appears.

-Nebula-Croft wears dumb and impractical outfits that cause her problems a lot.

-Dr. Po isn't nearly as knowledgable about the jungle as he thinks that he is.

You know, stuff like that.

Sounds like a Scary Movie parody....aka not good.

Yeah, it does appear like they're making it a lot more wacky, which the original was, but it was still pretty ****ing serious. A lot of that movie was nightmare inducing.

Such a parody can and has been done well (the first Austin Powers movie comes to mind right away). It's all in the execution. And Scary Movie was more just "lets throw random pop-culture references and jokes into our movie with barely any rhythm or reason," which was it's biggest flaw imo.

I'm curious to see how they address the events of the first movie (since this is apparently a sequel not a remake).

Exactly. That's the worrying aspect. Alan talked about the jungle like it was a scary, traumatic experience. If the jungle is depicted as whacky and playful that tarnishes the first film in a Terminator Genysis kind of way.

We'll see soon enough. Although the prospect of actually getting to see the "game world" this time around makes me excited in an of itself.

Even Zathura played up the alien threat as pretty serious, so hopefully that stays the same even with the main cast being adults this time. Things can get cheeky, but I feel like this movie can be just a plain ole' good time and believe in it.

Also if these are in-game characters, then it's a bit different than Alan (who was a boy pulled into the game and being forced to grow up there/learn the fly).

My theory is that maybe the game upgraded itself over the years, and these could very well be former players that got sucked in and forced into these roles. I remember in the cartoon it said that if you manage to kill Van Pelt you have to replace him.

I'm guessing the game is less scary to the in-game characters, because even if they die, they get to start again.

I'll wait for a trailer but as of now, not interested in this. Johnson is okay as a go-to "bro"-type character but that's about it. Hart? Annoying across people, environments, and galaxies.

What happens is that people will complain... now, whether their complaints will be justified or not, that remains to be seen.

JUMANJI sequel said to follow 4 teens in detention who get sucked into the game, where they take on new "avatar" forms to locate a jewel.
What teen in his right mind would choose to look like Jack Black? :o

Maybe he doesn't choose to look that way, but that's the form he was forced to take on? Like in a role in an RPG, maybe you have to basically take the role you don't really want in order to play the game?
