Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle

I think Jumanji benefitted from the last jedi being so f**king polarizing among the moviegoers. It was more fun seeing Jumanji than the last jedi.

The legs on this film are nearly ironically as long as Karen Gillen's.....

Jesus H. Christ, i mean, ****, dont get me wrong i quite enjoyed the movie, i was pleasently surprised.....but what the ****?

I think ironman_rick may be a bit right, though not quite as exclusively as he states. Last Jedi was polarizing enough to probably push some geeks who were looking forward to multiple TLJ viewings into watching Jumanji instead, but far more than that, it was a pretty dry winter. There was nothing to really compete with Jumanji as a mostly comedy film, and while TLJ and BP are both adventure and action juggernauts, the space between them gave Jumanji an area to exploit.

The Rock truly does have millions (and millions) of fans.

$400 million domestic achievement unlocked. Mojo:

Total Lifetime Grosses
Domestic: $400,246,103 42.5%
+ Foreign: $541,306,101 57.5%
= Worldwide: $941,552,204

Still playing on 1,500+ domestic screens and has one final OS market, Japan (April 6). All hail The Rock.

I can't remember the last time when a movie is about to come out on bluray/dvd and it's STILL playing in theaters.

I swear dude, Jumanji and Black Panther may need to do a crossover.

I saw this the other week. I have to agree with the general consensus, it was surprisingly enjoyable.

Lol, no joke I just kept thinking how similar they are in how many boxes they probably ticked off to get to where they are. I know movies like these can be calculated, but god damn...I mean that in a good way.

Finally caught this. This was a dumb fun movie with a surprising amount of heart. The trailers played up the comedic tone a lot more and kind of made you think this was an out and out action comedy/ parody but the movie actually plays a lot of it straight and the humor feels genuine especially during the segments with the teenagers. There's def a few slapstick jokes here and there but for the most part the humor comes from the natural charm of the actors.

That said, the movie is as generic and by the numbers as they come and the dialogue is corny and cheesy BUT the actors sell the dialogue and the chemistry and camaraderie and I think that makes the movie work. Without The Rock, Kevin Hart, Jack Black Karen Gillan and even Nick Jonas, this movie probably would have tanked. The movie literally lives and dies with how these actors sell the material and I'll even throw in the teenage actors who do a surprisingly good job getting you to care about them. I still can't comprehend HOW this movie made so much, I'm guessing this was just the right type of feel good, family fun holiday movie. It was released at the right time. Its not THAT good but its fun, good, wholesome harmless, cheesy, formulaic fun.

I think the reason this movie was as successful as it is is because it was clever but simple and a lot of fun. Each of the main actors had fun and played well off of each other.

I lked this okay. As much as I loved Williams but I never gave a crap about the original, so I had no expectations.

This movie brought back the fact that Robin Williams is missed greatly.

I saw this recently and had a blast with it. Some hysterical moments and it was a lot of fun. Sometimes you need to just shut off your brain and enjoy dumb fun not every film needs to be a cinematic masterpiece.

I finally saw this the other night ( redbox ) what can I say, my wife and I were snorting we were laughing so hard. We played back several of the funnier scenes to laugh again.

My only complaint, I would have liked to have seen it on the big screen.

I more or less got dragged to it in the theater and enjoyed it a decent amount.

The scene where Jack Black’s character has to take a piss and that whole exchange had me laughing so hard :funny:

I plan to get it on Blu-Ray soon. It might be simple fun but it is still fun which is more entertaining and enjoyable than many of the other heavy handed/hearted movies that get all the praise. Good movies those might be and Oscar bait, but then not everything aspires or should be Oscar material that is more concerned with philosophical discussion.

At the time it came out it was much needed distraction from serious discussion and thought.

And I bought it while I was out today. I was going to get the original Jumanji too but they didn't have it in stock.
