Jurassic Park IV

I'm fine with Joe Johnston returning to direct, just give him a better and complete script to work with. I think he deserves a shot at redemption for this series.

Serious. If they gave him Captain America .. Captain America! .. they obviously trust the guy. I'm gonna give him a chance with both films.

I like your idea, it just needs a good setup. Here's my trilogy outline...

JP4: sPecial unit is set up to track down illegally cloned dinosaurs being sold on the black market all over the world. Team arrives at a large, remote, private menagerie and cloning facility owned by a rich *****ebag and find themselves being hunted by his security team as they make their way through the labs and paddocks.

JP5: Cloning of prehistoric animals becomes more widesPread and their success has allowed certain legal exceptions for zoos and laboratories. When scientists inadvertently resurrect an extinct virus that's relatively harmless to dinosaurs but deadly to humans however, the only hope of curing it lies in obscure footnotes detailing it's prior discovery in the original Jurassic Park. The team from the previous film must head to the original islands and find the cure if there's any hope of saving mankind.

JP6: 10 years after the events of the previous film, 95% of the human race has gone extinct and the world has drastically changed. Creatures from every epoch of the Earth's history roam it together in a fierce struggle to survive dangerous new ecosystems. Equally dangerous are the roving factions of weapon collectors seeking to start a new world order and willing to kill any men and kidnap any women who don't join.

So there's my little trilogy idea.

I like it! Good pacing with the story. All though, I think for JP5, only part of the film should take place on the original Islands. Only because it may feel too much like the original film. All though I do like part of the story taking place on the original islands.

Sounds good! Let's get started making this.
=P

My complaint about the JP films: with as talented a director and story teller as Steven Speilberg, why are these films nothing but big chase scenes? Imagine what a great film he could make if he had a quality script plus the great special effects? He can do it, but he is pandering to the FX crowd.

Because in between the science/morality lectures and "Chaos Theory!" that Crichton had in his original book, there wasn't much more than set pieces. Crichton's reputation was made on his high concepts and plotting, not on characterization and drama.

Thats too bad. I would still like to see more characterization.:csad:

I think the first JP nailed it with the right balance of action scenes and character drama, and while TLW was lower on the character stuff it did make up for that with it's moral undertones at least. But JP3 was lacking the morals of the first two and was pretty much a 90-minute chase sequence, lacking the plotlines of the first two.

Whoa, whoa there are LOTS of great character moments in the first two JP films. Maybe not flat out development, but I don't expect much when these people are brought to the island in which the main plot is about dinosaurs breaking out and causing **** in the first place. Critchon and the two films provided great ethical themes packed with great action. It's not high art people.

I feel the first JP is the definitive Summer blockbuster movie, a movie that not only delivers with action but also a fine plot and memorable cast of characters with some good moral food for thought. So many modern Summer action movies these days just aren't on the same level of mastery to me.

Why shouldnt it be?

The first JP movie was on my list as number 1 for a long time.
I've watched it so many times, I can recite dialog from it by heart.
It's a typical Spielberg movie with good balance of depth and popcorn action. The second one was too preachy, too often a biology lesson. too many characters you didn't like or care for.
The third one was just watchable.

So is this for real or just a lot of speculative discussion?

You mean JP4 being the beginning of a new trilogy? At this rate, probably just speculation.

Why shouldnt it be?

Like I said, it's a mixture of great ethical ideas and action with great characters. It's a great blend that should go any deeper. Or else it will be pretentious. You can only do so much when the plot has to do with dinosaurs breaking out. That's the action right there. It doesn't balance well when you go too deep with that kind of action. The first film is as far as they should go with that stuff.

Quick Google search:
It's probably just a hoax.
No 4th movie and certainly no reboot of the franchise.

I still have a lot of my older JP toys including the electronic T-Rex from the first movie. I love them all. So many memories right there :D

What if the dinosaurs become hybrids like birds can after interbreeding between species, or simply evolving at a rapid rate? Something like the original prehistoric species from King Kong or something like a cross between a T-Rex and Spino if they can biologically mate like a horse and donkey.

I think I may still have an armless "Dino Damage" Denis Nedry in a box somewhere. :hehe:

I still have the first series Nedry, complete with Dino Damage arms, spray gun backpack, mask and Dilophosaurus.

I wonder if we could be getting the real Velocioraptors. I mean it is not time to get it right?
