Kanye finally snapped!

According to her. I don't believe anything that any Kardashian says, and since it was almost a full day later that the "news" started reporting that he threatened to kill her, I'm going with this whole thing being a set up .
Fortunately for everyone, including the Keeping Up With the Kardashians producers, the whole thing was caught on tape and even the paps have reported he was saying some crazy threatening stuff. Also Kim is supposed suing the man-kid for threatening her so another winner in this...Lawyers!

if it's not, it still doesn't mean Kanye should have beat the kid up. Kanye lost in this scenario. He won't stop people using the N-word, he made the kid rich, and he gave him 15 minutes of fame.
In this case, it looks like Kanye isn't losing that much. I think he made his point, eh he's still probably gonna rap about it ad nauseum :(. I would say at the very least he is meeting Charlie Sheen definition of "winning" which is getting lots of media attention without showing a lick of talent or maturity. Congrats Kanye!

But seriously, I think the real winners in this is us. It took til 2014, but we can finally got to the point where if you call someone the n-word, the whole world will turn on you and view you as human excrement. The media keeps calling this kid a *****ebag, the police don't care. Even white supremacist are reading this story and rolling their eyes.

The probability of a counter claim would make that rather ill-advised.

Unless the "N-Word Act" is passed, containing a provision that the rule of law is suspended when that particular word is used, then that isn't a particularly happy state of affairs.

It is considered hateful but it isn't hate speech (enough) for the law to get involved in only for use of the word.

I'm not one of those people who needs a law or an Act passed for everything. Public shaming is often much better than legal action. I want to see this teen in 10 years. He's gonna regret in leisure and hopefully a whole lot of young men like him will watch and learn.

You misunderstand me: I was saying that it is wrong for someone's legal rights to be suspended for the use of a word, unless the statute book gives fair warning of that.

I should have said I agreed with you in that though it's hateful it doesn't qualify as speech that would not be protected Constitutionally.

Q-Tip is one of the best rappers of all time. You've never heard of A Tribe Called Quest? Old-school, GOLDEN AGE hiphop, my friend. Q-Tip, Phife Dawg, Ali Shaheed Muhammad and Jarobi White.

My Lord, kids these days.

I know, right? Back when I first heard his name I was wondering if it was a wise move to name yourself after something people clean their ears with.

I just have to ask.

Are there really white people in this thread telling black people how they should feel when someone calls them a "******"? Really?

Really?

There's some irony here, but I'm sure you won't see it.

Actually it is wise. If you clean out your ears, you'll be able to listen better. :woot:

He also goes by The Abstract.

I don't think there are. I'm under the impression that some are saying to not give in to reacting violently to those who use it and to be better than them.

Plenty of people have said things that were almost as offensive at me but I ignored them. That doesn't mean I didn't feel something when they used that language but I also did not give them the knowledge it affected me.

There is a difference in feeling something and expressing that feeling. No one should be told not to feel something but you can resist expressing it, which should also be your choice. I think it's better to not let them get a reaction but if someone else wants to do what Kanye did, that's their decsion. And if it results in negative consequences, then that's also their decsion.

Or you can take the opposite intention and say you have to clean your ears to make sure what you are hearing really is meant to be music. :o

I think I actually saw that spoofed once.

Nah I'll admit at some point I was acting like that. I'm white but was arguing that its extremely racist and people shouldn't be surprised Kanye wanted and did kick his ass. But then I had other white people telling me it was just a word and it shouldnt resort to violence. So idk how to feel. :whatever:

I wouldn't dream of telling anyone how to "feel".

There's no such thing as a thought crime.

Either way, Tip is awesome. Though Phife is my personal fave. :woot:

Microphone check, one, two, what is this? / The five-foot assassin with the roughneck business / I float like gravity, never had a cavity / got more rhymes than the one that's got family / No need to sweat Arsenio to gain some type of fame / No shame in my game cuz I'll always be the same / styles upon styles upon styles is what I have / You wanna diss the Phifer but you still don't know the half!

Dat flow. :awesome:
