Where's the Marvel version of Superboy Prime, so he can SuperRetCon Punch the 616 universe, and retcon Sins Past, The Other, Spidey joining the Avengers and Spidey's unmasking.

:(

:(
And maybe he can bring back Uncle Ben.:)

I think I know how they could fix this... Have spidey fake his death and take on the guise of Rickochet or Dragonfly (was that it the one with the wings and purple costume) He should use those costumes until things die down.

Well, with Spidey being unmasked, I know not to pick up Spider-Man comics whenever I manage to get back into comics.

Finally, we agree on something, man.

I've been out of the loop for about half a year now from comics period and part of me thinks it's just not worth it trying to get back into the loop.

Stan Lee worked first for the READERS!!!!

Yes, he did. And I think that drive to please the reader is what's been sorely missing from most Marvel comics since the mid-1970's. Some brilliant flashes here and there, but largely a forgettable muck.
"Secret Wars" was the fat lady singing.
Just my opinion.

Some other thoughts:
* Peter won't stop wearing the mask, even if the secret ID really is gone.
* I guess Aunt May & Mary Jane are not dead meat since they're living in Avengers tower? (Am I right about that? I'm just following Marvel casually these days, after 25+ years of keeping the faith.)
* Pete's gonna regret this for sure, because it's coming so early in the CW story.
*I won't be surprised if Mary Jane ends up with Tony Stark somewhere down the line. Has anyone predicted that?
* If the story of all Marvel characters were going to definitively end 4 or 5 years from now, I would actually hope to see this kind of thing played out and not necessarily retconned. Reportedly, Stan Lee issued an executive order of sorts, around 1971 that while Marvel characters had always seemed to change and move forward, there would now be only the illusion of change.
(And that's when the fat lady started warming up...)

I think Spidey should have kept the mask on.... does that make me an ass???

I wonder what Stan the Man thinks about this? I wonder what all of the writers think about this?

No. Identity crisis revisited would be a huge leap backwards.

Thank you! I've been saying this for years. Back in the day, Stan and co were more market-led, focusing on giving the fans and readers what they wanted but fast foward a bit and you've got ego-dripping morons thinking they're hotter than the freakin sun and now, we ultimately have a roster of bullsh1t writers who cant write for sh1t. Like I said before, Quesada will never ever be like, Kirby.

I don't see how they can "Fake" Peter's death ever, and then have him show up in a different suit for awhile and then eveneutally show back up as Spidey.

The whole world (J.J.J, etc...) is not stupid and people would be wondering who is under the mask and if it "could" be Peter. THey'd ALWAYS wonder as soon as they saw Spider-man again.

Joey Q. has totally ruined the character. There is no way to properly put the worms back in the can now.

It'd either have to be a dream, which is so lame, or someone would have to mindwipe the earth...which would be lame.

So, the unmasking, in my opinion is on a whole new galactic level of lame, as well as any chance to fix it now would be. The whole thing is frankly illogical. He should take over DC and take Batman's clothes off in public too, it'd make as much sense. Make him unrecognizable.

I know how to fix this!
Professor Charles Xavier could supe up Cerebro and then use his enhanced powers to wipe the memories of the events of this and the last several years from the entire planet!

Yeah, right.

Feck it, just let Galactus eat Earth already. That's about as dignified an ending to the Marvel Universe as they deserve at this point, if not more.

I'm in favor of Joe Quesada getting his fat as s fired.

You just might get your wish if this unmasking story and the upcoming (and very expensive to make) 1985 mni series are both financial flops.

Spidey unmasking himself to the public is a stupid (and unoriginal) idea that has been kicked around at Marvel since Jim Shooter was EIC.

I have a dream that one day many of today's comic book editors, creators, and fans will realize that there was a very good reasons why certain stories were never done in the pat.

Very unoriginal. Remember ASM#12? They've been using the unmasking as a hook since the 60's.

Well, nothing is really original, but even so, Spidey has been unmasked numerous times throughout his career, as this post of mine pointed out:

BTW, for those that claim we're going to get all sorts of "story possibilities" out of this, here's at least one:

Careful....we've seen how Marvel doesn' seem interested in planning ahead. If the industry collapses under the weight of "shock" after "shock" event, then who cares, right? That's never happened anyways....well, except for that big implosion in the 90's....

Marvel is only concerned with the "right now". If the comics thing goes belly-up, then they now have a movie studio...so who cares? They've already alienated all of their readers, anyways....

Eveything to be said, has already been said, so I'm just logging in in as an A.S.S.

Hi all, I am a new member and felt compelled to respond to this thread. So, here goes. I am a long time fan of most things Spider-man. I disliked the movies, love the new suit, and I hate the idea of him being unmasked. It just feels wrong and, frankley, if it were a good idea all supers would have done it a long time ago. Also, I am fairly certain that the folks at marvel have already put a plan in action to fix it. I am sure I am not the first person to come up with this, but have ya heard about "Power Ring"? I guess he has power to alter reality. Not that i read that anywhere, but what else would a ring made from a reality altering cube do? I think Power Ring is a back-up plan for when this bites them in the ass. Lastley, does anyone else feel that they are testing out the idea of un-masking with a character that is a little too important to the whole marvel universe. I know it has been done with iron-man and daredevil, but this somehow feels different and wrong. Sorry, for the long post and if i am repeting anything

They are not going to fix this mess, its only going to get worse.

shut up! you sound like marvel's been hit with the plague.:down
