Superman Returns Kevin Smith Makes Fun Of Superman Returns!

Wow, foxnews can't even get a story on Kevin Smith right.

If anyone thinks that video made fun of SR you're an idiot. The only joke in the video was about the script that Kevin Smith wrote.

Fox News is run by monkeys. Actually, monkeys would "get" that clip.

Superman Mocked by 'Clerks' Director
Superman is facing one indignity after another. Forget about the box office problem. The film dropped significantly yesterday, taking in an estimated $8.5 million on the actual Fourth of July. The total is now around $105 million for eight days (more or less) -- not exactly a speeding bullet.
On Saturday came a new smack in the Man of Steel’s face: a mocking video from the always witty Kevin Smith, director of the upcoming “Clerks II,” one of my favorite films from the Cannes Film Festival.
Smith, you may recall, was the first of many screenwriters who went to work on a script for "Superman." And, like the others, his was tossed aside.
But now, on Smith’s MySpace page, there’s a video ad for "Clerks II" in which the director takes aim at "Superman Returns" while promoting his own film.
It’s very funny, too. While John Williams’ "Superman" theme plays in the background, two puppets that are supposed to be Smith’s characters Randal and Dante making fun of the caped hero.

“If you only see one movie this summer,” Dante says.
“It will probably be 'Superman,'” responds Randal.
“Why in the hell would they want to do that?” Dante says. “It has zero polar bears and not one giant spider.”
After a pause, and Williams' fanfare, the Jay character asks Randal: “Can you read my mind?”
Of course, once Smith was off of the "Superman" project, a series of events unraveled. Brett Ratner came and went, and eventually "Superman" went to "X-Men 1 and 2" director Bryan Singer.
The result is the movie we have now, a kind of washed-out epic that doesn’t deliver and is a little witless in the end. Smith gets the last laugh: His "Clerks II," which opens July 21, should be an enormous indie hit.
To make sure that happens, Smith apparently has agreed to do something unusual: the first 10,000 MySpace members who add the “Mooby’s Presents Clerks II” page to their "friends" list will have their names added to the ending credits of the movie.
I don’t know exactly how this will happen, but it reminds me of a stunt for a Todd Rundgren album back in 1973, when dinosaurs roamed the earth. You sent in your name from his prior album and Rundgren included it on a poster for his “Todd” album. I did it; so did other fans. And I made sure to buy that album just to make sure my name was there.

When Kevin Smith is making fun of this, then you know things are looking bad :(

This article is a step-by-step lesson on bad journalism:

- The actuals for tuesday were considerably higher than estimates: SR made 108m in seven days, don´t say a movie "made" this or that amount before you confirm it, Mr Journalist.

- Second, Kevin wasn´t making fun of SR, but of the Jon Peters "vision" for Superman. Don´t turn other people´s opinion into your own, Mr journalist.

- Third, your news channel belongs to WB´s competitor Fox, which puts your credibility in question already, and you only made matters worse with your attitude, Mr journalist.

Um, yeah, thats making fun of Superman Returns?

Fox News, making the Daily Show look more legit every damn day.

This is really a shame. Why does it have to be like this?

Honestly i have no idea, but everytime i come in this forum its like being surrounded with the most negative and bitter people i could ever imagine. a crying shame

Tell me.....how does the video attack Superman Returns?

It's not making fun of Superman Returns at all.........in fact, it's not doing anything wrong at all.

People are so full of ****ing bull**** mother ****ers.

Seriously, who watches FOX news anyways? Why havent the ratings dropped so far down that the channel has to be dropped.

Dude....I just watch the Daily Show. That way, I get to laugh....and still get the news. Fox news and CNN and all that....It just feels like they're just feeding me bull**** after bull****.

I use to love CNN, but then people like Nancy Grace got there stupid shows. I am fine with News Channels being about the News but when they have purely opinion based shows starring reporters or delivered in a way that makes people believe it is news it becomes a problem. FOX is the KING QUEEN and Jester of disinformation

aren't we all sick of the same old Jay & Silent Bob bullcrap?? i can't believe there's even a sequel to Clerks.

Mall Rats was funnier.

Yeah......I'm surprirsed you, SFII, haven't heard of John Peters......that man's tale is legendary.

If you actually watch the video, you'll see that it's a cheap shot at Peters more or less and not SR.

i remember when i saw that video a year ago and i thought it was f_cking classic...everytime a fan ask kevin smith to sign his superman script he writes "F__k tim burton" and then his name....kevin smith is great

My respect for Kevin Smith pretty much went out the window with the release of "Jersey Girl."

Though Mallrats and Clerks are still classics.

I hate to say it, but Jersey Girl wasn't as bad as people make it out to be. Yes it was corny, but big deal.

I think it's b/c most of his fans prefer to hear curse words and jokes about sex, and ****.

If Kevin Smith's script got a good director who understood Smith's vision- Superman Lives could have been a great film. I personally, although the Polar Bears and giant Spider seemed out of place, liked it. Some fans have mentioned the "wink" at the audience- been a long time since I read it- but, I remember a "wink" at the audience in STM as well. Jon Peters started ****ing it up- Tim Burton should have NEVER been put on a Superman film, he doesn't deserve to be anywhere near it. Albiet, he is a good director- just please Burton stay away from the Man of Steel. Anyways, the next thing came when Peters wanted a effeminate sounding man to be Brainiac's side kick. Instead, I heard a more Steve Zaughn sounding actor when reading through it and Edward Norton (I know how it sounds) as Brianiac. It was an alright script, Peters just ****ed it up from there.

That's another reason why I am so thankful that Bryan stepped in. Not only did he make a great film, he also more than likely made Peters shut up.

Because, when Peters was in charge we were looking at a Batman & Robin type film. Not to mention the "pay or play" deals that he was throwing around as though it was monopoly money! "Have an effimate guy playing the side kick, have giant spiders, and don't forget polar bears- their my favorite!" Seriously. People say that heads might roll, if that's the case- there is only one man: Jon Peters.
