Superman Returns Kevin Smith's experience with Superman (Returns)

Whack Arnolds said:
Awesome. Did he say what he thinks about either? And has he addressed or said what he thought of Batman Begins, yet?
He said that he enjoyed x3, but he really wanted to see what Singer was going to do with it. He really liked the first two X-Men and all of the sub-text and the arcs that Singer had been planting. About Superman, he said that he doesn't think that a movie about a guy that can fly can have that Wow factor that it had back in 1978. He really didn't say a whole lot about Superman Returns though. He did say that he was definitely going to see it, and he's interested. He talked more about the gay allegories that were in Singer's X-Men movies, and how he really liked how Singer was able to bring that to the films, but then that sort of evolved into a huge gay-joke.

And no mention of Batman Begins.

Thanks for the description, bud. One thing I need answered, how did Singer's metaphor to homosexuals become "one big joke"?

It wasn't anything serious, it was just Smith saying that the whole gay subtext thing kind of gradualy came around. In the first, it was pretty hidden, and then in the second it was much more evident, with the whole Bobby Drake scene and everything, and then he said that he expect the third to be all about gay stuff. He then continued with joking descriptions of battles envolving explosions of bodily fluids and penises, lots and lots of penises. It was all very off the cuff, joking kind of stuff though. He did say that he really aprecciated what Singer did with the first two films though.

Did you get to meet him? I saw him the one time I went to one of those, and there was a huge crowd...so I had no chance of meeting him. But I did see Jay up close. And he looks alot different when I saw him in person. Looked trashy though, just like the character he plays...lol. I wonder if Smith gets tired of appearing at these things?

I didn't get a chance to meet him. I might be able to tomorrow though. He'll be signing and hanging around. I did see Jason Mewes there too. He looked pretty good. Smith said that he's been completely clean and sober for a while and it shows.

LMAO!! That's pretty funny. I like the way that boy is screaming like crazy there. It even funnier to see the other boys laughing at him & one of 'em is covering his mouth with his hand. :D :D

It wasn't so much a defense of Peters but more an attack on Smith.

changing our stance now, are we?

I don't get all the hate for Peters. Contrary to popular belief...he has never ****ed up a comic book movie.

I remember a quote of Smith where he said he wanted his superhero movies to be like Batman Begins, but I don´t know the source.

Wow, how very mature. Typical troll behavior not to actually respond and instead, turn it around into a failed attempt at humor (very failed, btw).

Next time, try to refute the point and provide some argument. It will help maintain the illusion that you're not actually here to be a flame-instigating, biased, negativity-bent troll.

And I don't know who those posters you mentioned are, but your post is a very good example of why some long-term veterans may not post around here anymore.

Not at all.

My points have been as followed

1) Peters has only produced two comic book movies - Batman and Batman Returns. Neither of which are bad movies.

2) What Peters WOULD have done to Superman cannot be used as a defense to the **** Singer HAS done.

3) Kevin Smith *****es now, but he certainly grabbed his ankles for Peters at the time.

None of which are wrong.

wtf is up with you and the sexual innuendos dude? go take care of your business and come back to the boards after you through with all your dirty @$$ thoughts....dayum!

why not? who says? you? you're the ONLY one who's saying that. besides, even if i can't use what Peters WOULD have done as a defense, that's okay...

...BECAUSE AT LEAST SINGER'S PROJECT IS BEING COMPLETED WITH OPEN ARMS!!! i can't say the same for Peters...his ideas were so horrible it didn't even make it to production...:D

Just wanted to point out that the only fact you have listed is that Batman and Batman Returns are the only comic book movies produced by Peters.

You are posting that none of your points are wrong but the rest of them are opinions and opinions can always be wrong.

:o Singer has a far better grasp of who Superman is and what he stands for than Peters. Singer's Returns film will be his best superhero epic yet. It'll confirm WB's faith in allowing Singer to be the one to restore Superman to the big screen! SR will be successful!

I would have loved to have seen what smith would have written if it wasn't for that ass peters.

Smith constantly brags about the 80 page treatment he wrote...yet he never shows it...hmm...wonder why.

Yes, they are. You cannot debate tangibles with "What ifs".

Second, Smith stayed on the project and was plenty content until the day Burton fired him. Only afterwards did he start to ***** about Peters. That is also a fact.

perhaps its owned by the Wb?

any stretch i would love to see what he did..

it certainly wouldn't have giant spiders in it... and that 80 page was just the outline.

 its an expression, the only one taking it literally is you. Nice try, though.

The majority is always right...I forgot. Lets not forget, the majority of Germany elected Hitler. The majority of idiots keep seeing Rob Schneider movies and getting them made...and the current idiot is in office because of the majority.

An outline wouldn't be 80 pages.
