Dude. Read this:

But more importantly, read this:

And tell me you think *****bag Peters isn't a hack.

I just read all of link #2... Wow. I'm blown away. One thing I didn't know (don't visit AICN.com very much) was that Harry Knowels is such a sellout. Granted this may be obvious to everyone else, but it's not a site where I get movie info from very often. That's hardly the biggest peice of information I got from the site, but that stuck out the most... Him promoting Peters/JJ/MCG/Michael Bay... Good god.

None of it is any more outrageous or disloyal than Supes and Lois having an illigitment child.

No disrespect to you Matt, but Supes has been bastardized for the past few years now. The ONLY good thing Supes had going for him was "JLU" and even still, Clark wasn't featured in all the episodes. Ever read, "For Tomorrow?" Holy crap! Not the worst Superman story committed to the comic book format, but it was pretty damn mediocre.

As a fan of both Comics & Film, I feel that Singer's sparked a NEW interest in Supes that just faded out. After Azzy's story arc, I dropped the title and haven't read a Superman comic since. I was one of the many folks who laughed @ the 1st pic of Routh in costume & now I'm just dying to see the movie. I don't see Supes having a kid as being disloyal, it simply adds to the mythology. Besides, as of now it's purely speculation. Yes, the novel's out. Yes, there are pages of interviews to go by. But, when it all comes down to it, none of us have seen the movie.

Being disloyal to Superman is Killing him and bringing him back w/a friggin' MULLET. Kudos to you for "going against the tide", but like I said Singer's sparked a new interest in me & a bunch of other people. Trust me, a few nerds & I have been discussing this since "V for Vendetta" came out & we all saw the teaser trailer. True, Singer's X-Men films are overrated but up until that point, those were the best things going for both the film & comic industry.

I wonder how Kevin Smith's original Superman Lives story was like before Peters made him butcher it and gave us the crappy script that we can download now. I have a feeling that there was a good movie with Smith's take, only it wasn't realized.

Don't you find it very curious that Smith has never produced his supposed "uber draft"? Only the one Peters "made" him edit?

You're missing his point. We know Peters would have ruined Superman, but the fact is that movie was never made as where SR is a month away and that's the only one we can speculate about. Atleast speculation that matters.

Exactly, thank you.

Yes, scrutinize him. However, the man has made several good films, and like you mentioned with Peters if you are going to judge by track record than Singer should be given the benefit of the doubt.

Singer had the benefit of the doubt when he first signed on. Everything he has done since has slowly hacked away at it. Say "We haven't seen the movie" all you want, the fact is, its the information age. We know 95 % of this movie already...and from what I've seen and read...it doesn't look good.

Sure we know 95% percent of the movie, and we knew 100% of the Peters' movie according to Smith. Yet, you are the one who brought up the point that his ideas where just ideas that weren't realized. However, now you are saying that it isn't fair to bring up this same point with Singer though we all agree that NO ONE has seen "his" realized view...except for a few that don't agree on whether it was good or not.

So again...what is the point about bringing up Peters:confused:

I have always like Kevin Smith, from interviews on DVD's and ****, but this really gave more a sense of his personality, he's one funny bastard.

don't waste your time arguing with that dude...

I think his "uber draft" only existed in treatment form. Then Jon Peters gave him the notes, then Smith produced to piss poor draft. Maybe Smith never saw the point in posting his original story/treatment?

He is Jon Peters only fan on this Board. Some where out there in Alaska or small place like that there might be more Jon Peter Fans. He should make it a quest & to find more fans of Jon Peters & leave us in peace :o

Are you kidding me? Smith feeds off being the "king of geeks". If he could get any attention through his original story or whatever, he would've posted it.

Remember, Peters may have screwed Smith, but Smith was the one willing to bend over and take it.

Smith was ? If he was willing to bend over & take it then we would have gotten Peters Movie a long time ago :o

Smith selling out because he wants the job is understandable...

...Peters wanting a nonflying Superman battling a huge spider along with Brainiac battling polar bear guards protecting the Fortress of Solitude after Superman's dead body was somehow TELEPORTED there for him to be revived, however, is NOT understandable...

No, Smith wasn't "taking it"... He knew it was gonna suck, and if it was gonna suck at least he was going to keep it in his hands and make it at least half way decent.

Smith very much so bent over. It was then Burton who fired him. Smith may have spoken out after the fact, but he was in bed with Peters right up until the day Burton canned his ass.

Smith may have been 'in bed with Peters right up until the day Burton canned his ass' but that doesn't changed the FACT (yes, it's a FACT) that Jon Peters...

...is a moron.

Smith was trying to save us at least. Instead of just walking away... he tried, even with the surreal/idotic/and down right weird...to make it at least a nod to the fans, because Smith loves the character so much. Just like us.

I went to a Kevin Smith panel at Wizard World Philly today. He's a genuenily funny and entertaining guy. He spoke a bit about Superman Returns. He said that he had been anticipating X3 a lot more than Superman, but he'd still be in the theater on day one, mostly because he's a big Singer fan.

As usual, you're predicting the future and/or reading minds. Being "in bed" with someone and doing the best you can with a very terrible set of demands IS NOT THE SAME THING!! Contrary to your egotistical view that you're right about everything, you do not know that he was bending over for Peters and/or even liked what he was doing.

As Whack put it, he probably was just doing the best with what he could, even though he knew the end result would suck. As Kevin said, he really wanted the job. At that time, he wasn't the success he is now and trying to get a paying gig is hardly "selling out", even in your warped, highly distorted sad little world.

Awesome. Did he say what he thinks about either? And has he addressed or said what he thought of Batman Begins, yet?
