Killzone 2 showing straight after MS E3 Keynote, July 10th

The only way you could ever think that you won would be to stick your head in the sand and pretend really hard.

It doesn't trancend genres, but you're proving more and more that you aren't seriously approachig this topic. Either that or you're ignorant to what was said. You lost the arguement and here's why: I never said that Liberation being put into the first person perspective would be a 1 to 1 transition, because that's frankly impossible. It would be like you said, it just wouldn't work. I've already talked about how the AI worked fine, heck the AI was built off of their work in KZ, which was an improvement over the AI in Shell Shock, so on. You really must not get it, of course Liberation put into a first person perspective wouldn't make a great FPS, I've never said otherwise.
And what, pray-tell, is going to take the Killzone Liberation design and make it into a compelling First Person Shooter? Outside of a massive overhaul?

The major differences would be necessity of how well the AI would scale to more complicated environment, which it had problems with in SHellshock, and KZ. But based on the time money and manpower, the chances of the AI being anywhere near as bad as KZ1, is pretty darn slim. Not to mention that the AI was falwless in KZL. it had none of the tell tail trackin problems that the AI had KZ1. Heck if you ever read the post mortem on KZ1, you'll remember that they ad to gut the AI in the end, to get the compuational load down to an aceptable level for the PS2.
It's hard to screw-up AI in a top-down scrolling shooter, Zenien. Enemies pop up in a pre-determined spot and vanish when they're off screen.

Except no part of Killzone 1 really worked without hitch, and yet, even without their streaming tech done 100 percent, and that level being early, they were able to make it run totally smooth, crunch optimizing or not. Already that's a big win over the original, which had habitual streaming, framerate, AI, problems... all the time. So really have fun plugging your ears and trollin KZ2, it's going to b a good game, and there's nothing you ca really do to stop that. Only you could deny the progress they've been making.

Heck one of the big complaints of the original was also the reload animation time, we've seen multiple weapons in KZ2 so far, and the reload times are a lot faster now.
And? Some levels in Goldeneye ran great and others ran like crap. It's not 100% an engine issue.

I hate conflict. :(

P.S.

Why is everyone copying off of WHF for their icon? :O

Um, the AI in Killzone Liberation, will actually do this really neat thin that's called 'follow' you if you run away. The AI will do all this neat stuff like try to flank you, provide covering fire, supression fire, throw grenades, try to rush you iwith short range weapon, and even fall back. Jebus this isn't a top down level of contra we're talking about.

Or how about when you have to fight a tank with a rocket launcher. The tank is keepin track of it's own position, but also the angle of its turret and calculating the velocity nd trajectory of it's shots. Not only that but it will also try to keep itself far enough away to have time to evade your rockets whilst anticipating areas you migh be trying to fire from and supressing you that way.

Look, you haven't played the game, in fact you know very little about it, and that's fine. But if you're going to go out and make statements about what it does or doesn't have/do, and least know what you're talking about. Better yet, refrain from making comments like you just did, or assumptions, without any real knowledge of what you're talking about. The enemies do not 'disapear' when they're off screen, and yes they spawn just like enemies do in any FPS.

As for your third response, it's good to see you admit that at least some of the problems of Killzone 1 were down to the hardware resources available to them, so at worst, it's nice to see you, following that logic, that such problems would not be nearly as big of an issue on the PS3. It's good you're making progress. :D

Upon you using Killzone Liberation, a game not even in the same genre as Killzone 2, as a reason why Killzone 2 is going to be awesome (moreso than Killzone 1 or ShellShock, which actually are in the same genre as Killzone 2) I took it upon myself to extensively watch Killzone Liberation gameplay videos as made available by www.gametrailers.com and www.youtube.com and it gave me quite a grand idea of the game, in many aspects, and a grand idea of why it's no indication of Killzone 2 being a AAA title.

Apparently we're going to be getting a 'backgroud on the Universe' media relase sometime soon, should be interesting.

That could potentially be a rather awkward encounter... Make sure you guys tell us how it goes. :oldrazz:

Wrong!

Ugh the both of you! Uncharted got better the longer it went on, but most it it's platforming wasn' even real platforming, and the first half of the game ahd encounters that were just "a bung on guys in a lrge area". It wasn't until the market shootout that things started getting more designed and intense. I mean I like it, but it's not Jak II, which ad amazing level designthe entire way through.

Not to mention it ad a lot more explorable area than uncharted which is largely linear with some treasures scattered here and there. For the sequel they need to open up the environments, make them more complex, and have more challenging platforming than the 'auto platforming' of the original. In other words, make it more like Jak. The firefights will probably be better garanteed as long as it's more in the vein of the later parts of the game, and less so the earlier bits.
I WIN :cmad:
This is not teh Jak series and they do not need to make it more like that. I would hope ND wouldnt pull a Jak 2 here bc that game completely turned me off from the series after loving the first game. The actual gameplay of Uncharted is fine as it is. Uncharted is not a platformer. Its an action game with platform elements and it did good for the parts it did have.

New Killzone 2 Concept Art

We’ve discovered the work of Xavier Marquis; a talented artist who created concept art for Guerrilla Game’s Killzone series. Among his work are new images from Killzone 1, Killzone: Liberation, and the upcoming Killzone 2. Enjoy the many images after the link.

It sucks because they do not specify which are KZ2's. Maybe those of you who have played KZ1 and Liberation (I'm looking at you Zenien) could shed some light on it for us.
Here are a few of them. There are 21 in all:
