Killzone 2 showing straight after MS E3 Keynote, July 10th

Does anyone realize how futile this CoD4/KZ 2 discussion is? You're comparing two games, one of which hasn't even been released yet.

Doom, look through Purple's post history and try and find a serious post. :p

Well to be fair, Killzone 2 appears to be a mixture of Call of Duty and Halo in terms of design style and play mechanics.

Imean it's like "Enemy pops up, shot them" it's just very basic and scripted. Probably makes for incredible Counter Strike style Multiplayer though. I just can't see the main game appealling to me. I'm a sucker for choices and exploration and nuances and stuff. SImilarly, I'm way more interested in Fictional settings than In am in carbon real life recreations. It's just a taste issue, I can see why people would love it, it seems amazingly intense.

This explains your obsession with all things Killzone. :o

Well I love the world of Killzone in so far as the atmosphere, architectural design etc. Killzone is less scripted than a CoD game is, and it's play mechanics are more maliable. Not as much as a Halo, it's got a more restrictive design, but certainly more than a CoD.

Well, that's what it's attempting to be.

Everyone know's it's going to be another Killzone game.

Chances are it will be a good game, I'd take a perma ban bet on that to be honest. After Liberation there's no way they can mess this up.

EleKtro UK, look outside your window tomorrow morning and tell me what you see :cmad:

I live in a different time zone! You'll be too confused to issue me a threat/punishment and get the time of the morning correct! Plus I sleep till 1 on Sundays!

Playing the CoD 4 demo actually reminded me of the KZ2 gameplay vid the entire time I played it. The constant gunfire, bombings, etc...all were the same, it was crazy.

Good PSP game =! good console game.

Haven't we gone over this before?

He means it won't have improved on the original, apparently dreadful Killzone.

The first game wasn't dreadful. I agree it wasn't stellar, but it wasn't garbage. I've played worse games.

Pretty much every reviewer disagrees with you.

I couldn't care less what the reviewers say. I played it and I enjoyed it.

The only source I really trust is GameSpy. They gave it 3/5 stars and to me that isn't horrible. I agree with everything they said about it and still enjoyed the game.

He's saying Guerilla knows what to do to get it right.

Zenien is a girl. And making one good PSP game, which I don't think quite translates to the PS3, doesn't mean they know how to make good games. Pokemon games on console suck. Pokemon games on Gameboy were good.

Talent doesn't always translate cross platform.

Boy, girl, whatever, it is still right :oldrazz:

W/e, I'm giving Guerilla the benefit of the doubt and waiting till the game is released.

Yeah we did, and I brought up how the game isn't a dating sim and elements from Liberation are indicative of elements that would logically carry over to Killzone 2.

EDIT: Pokemon games on consoles aren't built as anything other than a Graphics enhancement for the Gameboy games though and Pokemon Snap was awesome.

It doesn't matter if it's a dating sim or not. Talent doesn't translate across platform, especially when the technology for the two things are so different. One's a handheld, the other is an actual console. Making a good console game is not the same as making a good handheld game, vice versa.

It's the same as being a good children's book writer. Doesn't mean you can write gripping novels as well.

It's easier to mess up a high-profile console FPS than it is a top-down shooter on a handheld.

THe only things that wouldn't translate would be the tech used for each game, and the tech in Killzone 2 certainly isn't a problem. It's not like making competent AI is different on a top down shooter (which is much more that of an FPS than any other top down shooter) is all that different. If the level designers are talented enough to make good levels on Liberation then there will be good level design in Killzone 2 most likely. The core fundamentals of what are required to make Liberation and a good FPS are essentially the same.
