Kingsman: The Secret Service

I've never frequented the Spider-Man board more times than I have this week. But the people over there... God. I can't tell if they are squealing teenage fangirls or single minded adults. I want to be there but... I feel like I'm not in a sane world.

But anyway back to this movie. Saw it last night, thought it was very well done. I don't love Vaughn like a lot of people here, but the man is so damn good at executing exactly what he wants out of his films. He never really misses a step. When he says he just wants to create a fun, kick ass film that doesn't take itself too seriously, damn does he ****ing mean it. Goldman and his writing are usually on point with this stuff.

Taron was fantastic. The guy looks like a frat boy *****ebag but he is so damn likeable and charming. I'll take this guy over Channing Tatum any day of the week.

Firth as always was terrific. Dat church scene. ****. And the ending.

I'm very happy for the opening weekend. My theater really enjoyed themselves and if this grows like I hope it does, I can see this being a real crowd pleaser.

Vaughn, why didn't you direct Fantastic Four?

What is wrong with you? If he did that, he wouldn't have made Kingsman. I much prefer him making Kingsman.

Though we don't know how good Fantastic Four will be, Vaughn would have been a lot more faithful to the source material and not get all overly serious like Trank seems to be with it. It would be an unabashed, fun and adventurous comic book film like most of his films have been. Vaughn isn't afraid to go there at least. That First Class vibe that he established would have fit more for FF than X-Men.

I gotta be honest, as much as I liked this, I could live without this if it meant Vaughn did FF instead.

Yeah, it's a give and take with Vaughn as I enjoy when he does this stuff too. But I just wish he could lend his talents or other filmmakers had talents like him who could make something like FF work. He's just the type of filmmaker they need.

Jesus, this movie. It's one big sopping wet love letter to Bond, particularly the Roger Moore era I feel, and it's righteous. They need to retire 'Free Bird' from all future films because Kingsmen killed it. Classic ****ing scene.

This movie will be watched hundreds of times by me and I will be grinning so hard each time.

Vaughn is one of the main producers of the FF movie, so he will also be responsible if the movie is a success or not, along with Trank and Kinberg.

First Class was good, but DOFP was even better and got better reviews. Speaking of DOFP, Vaughn said:

“I had Juggernaut being thrown out of a plane at 20,000 feet,” Vaughn says on the Empire Podcast, confirming something Days Of Future Past writer/producer Simon Kinberg told us on that movie's spoiler special, “and using his head to go down a hole to get to the bottom of [The White House].” Juggernaut’s role in proceedings was ultimately subsumed by Evan Peters’ Quicksilver, but the first iteration began with a plane transporting Beast over Washington airspace. “I had Beast saying, ‘I have a plan,’ and him replying, ‘What’s the plan? What’s the plan?’, and they go higher and higher and Beast was going to go, ‘This is it!’ and chuck him out the window. Then he goes smashing through [The White House] with his and Magneto goes, ‘Who the **** are you?’”

The final Singer take was, concedes Vaughn with a grin, “the best scene in the movie” as Quicksilver balletically negotiates the cream of the President’s security detachment. “I would have made the movie worse,” he laughs. “The Quicksilver one was better.”

Eh, Vaughn's style or directing doesn't seem to have any barring on Trank's vision. Vaughn will get away scott free if this thing fails.

And that's a pretty funny idea. Though I always thought if they used Juggernaut instead, Logan's brilliant idea of a prison break would just be a large guy who can run through walls. The Quicksilver idea is more clever.

Very entertaining movie. It took a while to suck me in, but once they got me, they wouldn't let me go. Some of it was a bit too silly for my tastes, but overall, I thought it was definitely worth the money I spent. 7.5/10. I hope it gets a sequel.

I don't love Vaughn the way some others here do, he hasn't made a bad film, neither has he made a great film, but he's consistently good.

This is going to score an estimated 42 million for the 4 day weekend. I smell sequel.

If there is a sequel we all know Vaughn won't be the one to do it. He'll move on like he always does.

So would they be called the "President's Men" or something? Even if I didn't recognize Hamill, his voice would have given it away. I kind of thought that he was changing up his voice to play the Joker, but it turns out that he just kind of sounds like that in general now.

Just got back home after seeing this. A very fun and entertaining film. I may not love quite like some others but I enjoyed spending time in this world for sure. I have a couple minor quibbles but all in all they knocked it out of the park. Any flaws I think are ther don't detract from the film too much if at all. TIs a shame FIFTY SHADES is going to out gross this. Cest la vie.

I was grinning the whole time. Like a kid in a candy store. A classic IMO. I love it better than Bond. And as a Bond fanatic, that's something. Bring on more sequels. Eggsy's a fantastic character.

Come to think of it, they did leave Firth's "death" kind of ambiguous. Yeah Valentine seemingly shot him in the head, but it was shot from a distance it was kind of hard to tell where the bullet hit. Also, there's nothing after that. No funeral, not scene showing his body being recovered, no mention of his body being recovered, no nothing. He gets shot and then that's it, we never see him again in any capacity.

Saw it and loved it. Loved Jackson's lisp and Hamill bringing out the Joker voice.
