Kingsman: The Secret Service

Yes it is and the film isn't done making money yet.
I am very happy with the WW number, but I am little shocked that nearly $120m of that is domestic. That is almost more then any of Vaughn's films have done WW, outside of First Class of course.

Before the tracking, I assumed the film at best was probably going to do 50-65 mil in North America. 120+million is a strong number for an R rated film not based on some super popular comicbook.

Yep. I am surprised the marketing worked so well. That and it has to have good word of mouth. It is still making pretty good money. Now Vaughn himself has to do the sequel. At least I hope.

I hope this hurries up and comes out on Blu-ray soon. I missed this in theaters.:(

I think this movie is good but it's very over hyped in my opinion.

I really liked it as well but it had a couple things that I found problematic. Those things don't take away from the film as a whole and on balance it's just a great action adventure film with good dark humor and mostly memorable characters. But I would agree that it's a bit over praised online, but that has also served to help it's box office as the word of mouth has been through the roof. Even with what I wasn't crazy about with the movie, Inwould still reccomend it to anyone.

I need to see it again but judging from my first viewing I agree with this statement, my sister loved it however.

Well it's almost like the G. Del Toro effect: Geeks are more in love with the ideas and persona of said filmmaker, more so than their actual films.

I don't care for most of Vaugh's films. The only ones I'd call good are Kingsman and X-Men: First Class.

Anyway the film is up to 328 million now. It should end with about 375 million worldwide.

And I call be BS. I not a big fan of Vaughn the man, but I do love his films. Why? Because I find them all to be very, very good.

My peppermint schnapps, how do you know like Stardust?

Yeah, Vaughn can be cheeky when he wants, but his movies always have a bunch of thought and effort into them.

Agreed, with the very huge exception of the masterpiece that is Pan's Labyrinth, I find Vaughn's films to be much stronger overall than Del Toro's. There's not a single Vaughn film I don't like, while most of Guillermo's films fall pretty flat with me, despite whatever awesome visuals he dreams up for them.

I just didn't find it to be an interesting film. I didn't care for the story or characters.

Stardust tries really hard. It WANTS to be the new PRINCESS BRIDE, but... It just isn't.

Honestly, I liked Stardust because it was a harmless film but boy, did it true how to invoke that 'Princess Bride' tone. But it never got to the point where it was absurd enough, gay De Niro and all. It wasn't dry enough I guess.

I'm so great in this! Folks talk about goddamn snubs all the damn time. I'm the mother****er who used a waterboy lisp in this **** and made ya'll love me.

Give me my award and be gone!

X-Men: First Class (by miles) - (9.5)

Kingsman - (8.8)
Kick Ass - (8.7)
Stardust - (8.2)
Layer Cake (8.0)

Vaughn is one of the few directors where I enjoy all of his movies.

Yeah for sure. I love the action sequences and his ability to work with young actors. I hope he directs Power Rangers.

This type of criticism always makes me laugh. It makes no sense to me. :woot:

You said the movie was good, what were you expecting? I'm so happy when I walk out of the cinema and the film ends up being good.

I'm not saying you're wrong or anything like that, but it always makes me laugh when I hear or read that.

Stardust is awesome!

And Kingsman wasn't over overhyped at all, like did you see how many views did the trailers get from YouTube? not much. Everyone was talking about 50 Shades of Grey and I think this became a surprise hit and its quality is a big part of it. 7 weeks inside the top 10 and counting! Fox should greenlight a sequel soon!
