where instead of Dr. Graiman dying, it should have been Sarah. I bring up the OC, because I always thought that show wouldn't be able to grow unless Marissa Cooper died, and they had the perfect chance to do it in season one when they were in Tiajuana. Fast forward to season four, after she finally did die, and they had a great creative resurgance. Unfortunately, the ratings had sucked so bad at that point that it was too late to recover.
Killing Sarah would have at least taken away one of the main things crippling the show: the "will they or won't they" cliche that no one likes!!! Would it have been even more harsh than Dr. Graiman dying? Oh, hell yeah! But to refocuses aspects of the show to pull it out of its creative slump. One of the most baffling thing about this show has always been the presence of TWO highly-trained field agents that are always riding the bench back at SSC, (mind you, it's hilarious that the first time Rivai is seen on a field assignment on the show, she suffers a career-ending injury!!) while Sarah is just a scientist with ZERO field training! The only time we see her do any kind of training, it's with Michael, and that might as well be foreplay, with all the sexual tension that's packed into those scenes! Bottom line, killing Sarah could have made Michael a better character. It'd be nice to see him a little bit colder, a little broken. The scene in this past episode with him taking out all of Stevens' men, he just had this whole "cold stare" thing going that really worked. I don't want him to be a total downer, but he needs a piece of his heart missing, something to really drive him. They don't bring up his mother (from the pilot movie) at all I notice. Maybe that will be something for him and Sarah to bond over next week.
