Kong: Skull Island - Part 3

Personally I'm not one for creature features. I wasn't fond of Godzilla 2014 or Pacific Rim, but this gave me a real good time. I saw it last night and had an ultimate ball. It was the perfect turn your brain off blockbuster I've seen in a loooong time.

Let's just say 2005 King Kong don't have **** on 2015 King kong

What I like about this film is right off the bat it expresses whole heartedly that this is a 100% new reimagining of King Kong. “What 1930s? There’s no 1930s film,” The film takes place in the time span between 1944 and 1973 during WWII and the Vietnam War. It’s like director Jordan Vogt-Roberts just saw Peter Jackson’s version and threw it in the trash like.

Oh good, the embargo is up. Cool. Looks like it will be a bumpy ride, but maybe not a disaster.

I really enjoyed it, much more than Godzilla. The film is a blast. It might become a kind of classic, certainly a worthy addition to the Kong Pantheon. I even got Bogart in African Queen or Lee Marvin in Duel in the Pacific vibe from John C. Reilly:woot:
I also thought that the director was actually pretty referential and respectful to certain aspects of King Kong 1933, especially in terms of the look etc.

Question. Have we seen most of the epic stuff in the trainers or is there still a few surprises in store?

I guess the main question is, is Voght-Roberts a good choice to direct GvKK? While we clearly have a little bit more time, I would imagine Legendary would want to avoid some of the confusion that went on with Godzilla 2.

Still, excited to see it next week. A good month of movies.

I can't stand watching moviebob, I don't know how other people do it. And he's a pretty big hypocrite who likes to jump on bandwagons.

He was pretty much laying in bed with Devin Faraci, MovieBob used to parrot everything Faraci would say.

Its hard to believe but MovieBOb is worse than Faraci. His hypocrisy, bias and shilling is on another level.

I looked up MovieBob once because SPIDEY mentioned him. Never again. :funny:

Speaking of Devin Faraci, apparently he says that he found Buddhism or something, and is still seeing movies early because he reviewed Logan on instagram when the embargo lifted. And that's your Devin Faraci update. Back to Kong... :o

As long as he doesn't get possessed practicing tantric sex.

Variety & THR both gave pretty good reviews.

I can't wait to see this.

I don't blame you. Believe you me he's not some go to critic for me, most of the time I don't even agree with his opinions. I just said that I thought he often had insightful **** in his reviews. I think he is Devin Faraci light. Hopefully with less sexual assault.

I'm glad to see that almost all of the responses I've seen from fans have been positive about this movie. I hope the critical consensus stays at least in the semi-positive. I'd love to see more films in this universe done in similar fashion.

I've been jamming Henry Jackman's score for this all morning, and it may be one of my favorite scores of the year so far.

You should watch his "That damn good" series of movie reviews/analysis. They are worth more insight than reading a billion ******** superheohype comments.

Ooh, I had some doubts about this one so I'm pretty excited to hear such good reactions.

Just an observation: we're up to, what? Five good movies this year? Split (which I haven't seen), Lego Batman, Get Out and Logan (both of which I haven't seen) and this.

By this time last year, I think, there was only Deadpool and The Witch.

It's kinda redundant right now but I'll still post this...

I think it's safe to say now that KONG: SKULL ISLAND is giant-monster-heaven. Absolute madness.

The hype keeps growing and growing. Thursday can't come soon enough.

This is exactly the type of hype and reaction I was hoping for. I am pumped to finally see Logan tonight, but I really just can't wait to see Kong again and on a giant large format theater screen.

No worries, you made it clear you don't usually see eye to eye with him. I was just curious. Did not work for me. Stuckmann isn't the most insightful guy, but I like. So he is a YT personality I enjoy. Though I am still trying to understand his X-Men Apocalypse review.

i cant go see BATB and have to wait another whole week for kong. bollocks

ahh well at least i can see logan this weekend

In my opinion, I wouldn't mind if Voght-Roberts came back, because I really think he nailed this version of Kong and I'd love to see his take on Godzilla. I also find him a much more visually inventive/interesting director than Edwards who I don't hate, but am not a big fan of his style. Who knows if Doughtery can surprise us with Godzilla than he's more than welcome to have a crack at GvKK too, but only time will tell.

I like Stuckmann's reviews on YouTube. Except for his review of Winter's Tale.

I enjoy some of MovieBob's videos as well, if he's the guy I'm thinking of. I disagree with his opinions quite a bit, but I think he does hit on some insightful points and give interesting film analysis quite a bit.

Like I agree with many of his points about the newer X-Men movies, but I don't agree the earlier films are trash either. The first two movies have their flaws and they are flawed from perfect, but they were products of their times as well. And for their time, they did IMHO a very good job.

I really like Moviebob, apart from disagreeing with him from time to time (like any critic). And yes, I'm still reading Faraci who has been writing his best stuff since he's been gone.

Is Devin still writing? I heard he's a new-age hippie Devin now?

I need this in hi-res. A new poster from the Poster Posse. I have to say all of the posters I've seen for this flick have been quite fantastic.
