I really wish there were 2d IMAx showings of this. Imax screens are awesome, 3d less so. Such a waste.

I looked up MovieBob once because SPIDEY mentioned him. Never again. :funny:

How dare you speak such blasphemy of MovieBob!

LOL. Seriously though I love listening to him rant. He spouts so much hilarious material.

By the way - how many more monsters are in this aside from what we've seen in the marketing blitz?

Unfortunately, we've pretty much seen every creature in the movie in the trailers. My biggest gripe is that there weren't more monsters, but now that I think about it the ecosystem of this Skull Island is so different from Jacksons that I wonder if it could support more creatures, especially predators. The skullcrawlers would probably wipe the competition out easily and the only thing that could really challenge them is Kong.

Large footprints in the sand at Dockweiler State Beach. Perhaps @kongskullisland?

Cover image for the print edition of "Birth Movies Death." In honor of Skull Island and Colossal they did a giant monsters issue.

A lot of quality Kong coverage in the magazine. They had a pretty in depth articles about the effects artists on the original film and the director Cooper. A lot of stuff I had never come across.

They also have a long interview with Vogt-Roberts about how he came to be involved in the film. WB was original planning on setting this film in 1917, making it a prequel to the original story. Roberts came to them with the 70s idea and his view of how Kong should act and his relationship to the island.

Anyone found out what was shown in the post-credits sequence that connects to Godzilla? I mean, Godzilla, Mothra, Ghidorah, and Rodan are all trademarked in this movie's credits. So....

The protagonists are with Monarch and get shown slides of ancient cave paintings depicting the Toho monsters, with the final slide being an image of Godzilla and King Ghidorah fighting, with the implication that they're ancient enemies. There's a Godzilla roar and then the screen cuts to black.

Epic.

YUS :woot:

Is it true that:

The Mothra cave drawing has two women worshipping him, an obvious nod to the twin priestesses of Infant Island

Speaking of Devin Faraci, apparently he says that he found Buddhism or something, and is still seeing movies early because he reviewed Logan on instagram when the embargo lifted. And that's your Devin Faraci update. Back to Kong... :o

I will bet cash he is still the same jerk, just waiting for people to forget. I remember back when CHUD went to hell when they made him a writer instead of a message board troll, and Nick tried sticking up for him, saying that he's gonna act professional being a face of CHUD. Did I mention that is when CHUD went to hell?

I hope he never gets prominence again. Female critics should insure that. The guy is vile.

Hopefully they actually do the concept justice when the time comes.

Apparently Box Office tracking is about 40-50 million OW which is not great for its 150 million budget.

This needs great legs to prove profitable for WB.

They are pretty much betting on China. Which isn't bad, considering how Pacific Rim did there.

I'm rooting for this movie but it's gonna have an uphill struggle just to break even at the BO. Not sure how reliable the source was but I read somewhere that the budget for this movie is 190 Million. I hope OS BO saves the WW gross and the movie generates profit but it looks increasingly unlikely at this point. :csad: :csad:

I really liked the movie a lot and I'm hoping that good word of mouth will get some butts in theaters that wouldn't normally go out to see a monster movie. The newest trailer played with Logan when I saw it the other night and after the credits rolled people seemed to be interested and chatting amongst themselves.

The one thing about this, is that the film is super fun and entertaining, the epitome of a popcorn blockbuster. I am doing all that I can personally to spread the good word of Kong.

Sam Jackson was on the TODAY show this morning to promote it. I haven't seen all the released promos, so don't know if the scene they showed was all new or not....but it was a scene of them flying the choppers towards a rising Kong with the sun behind him.

Yeah, we've seen that shot in at least two of the trailers I believe.

My wife has this as a must see for her, she usually has only one or two films a year that she really wants to see in the theater.

Jeremy y u betray me with your uncensored cursing :(

Anywho...kinda surprised about how bummed he was on it.

Has the Collider crew corrupted my compadre Jeremy with their movie elitism?

Oh that would be a bit disappointing.
