I am not sure.Is there some kind of debate going on I don't know about?

How well did the 2005 King Kong do compared to this?
Just got back from it. I really enjoyed it. It was a simple, enjoyable giant monster romp and that is my bread and butter. I really hope it has some decent legs at the BO so it doesn't end up flopping.
March is shockingly crowded this year so there will be casualties.
Just got back - the movie is totally awesome. Exactly what I expected - fun monster action, great visuals and no expectations from the characters. John C. Reilly surprised me in a good way, though. Jackson's character while being cool was really, really dumb. When you see monsters of such scale on that island, killing people in such a horrific way, you RUN, not stay and try kill them simply because you miss the war and try to prove a point. I am actually surprised he managed to survive almost until the end of the film.
I thought the movie was just ok, nothing special. It's just a big dumb action movie.
Its sort of the film equivalent of a Kardashian, looks great but just dont expect it to say anything of real relevance when it opens its mouth. Maybe thats enough though for this sort of film. Didnt hate it as much as Godzilla anyway.
6.8/10

Agreed. When it started, I was like "Oh... So he's what they were hyping Colin Trevorrow to be."The directing was terrific. Once I saw the opening shot, I knew there was something to this. It had a real vision behind it which you don't see as much anymore with blockbusters.
