Kong: Skull Island - Part 4

I thought the Skullcrawlers had a good build up, I just didn't think the Alpha or its fight with Kong was anything special.

But I am getting the movie on BD so maybe it will grow on me.

Not enough separated the "Big One" from the normal skull crawlers. Perhaps they should have made the small ones, much, much smaller, like almost JP velociraptor sized. That would have sold the size of the Big One much more.

Definitely, or even give it some different abilities.

Great stuff! Had some beautiful cinematography, loved the creature designs and the action. Great soundtrack and had some interesting characters too. Enjoyed this a lot!

Glad you enjoyed it Broseph.

I enjoyed Kong more than Godzilla because there were more characters that you cared/worried for than there were in Godzilla and I thought the action was more intense and better.

Yeah the characters in Kong are definitely better. I don't always need super interesting human characters personally when it comes to these kind of films. But it was nice in Kong to have some really good characters. Cranston was great in Godzilla but killed off too early. I love the visuals/FX and action in both films. Godzilla for me gets a lower grade because of the characters and some moments being a bit too dark lighting wise.

Glad you enjoyed it Broseph, my copy came today! :D What was your favourite monster in it?

I mean Kong is probably my favorite. They did a great job with him, he looked wonderful. But the Skull Crawlers had a really unique design and looked awesome. And I enjoy some of the other random species we get to see throughout the film. Specifically the Sker Buffalo.

I thought about saying that in my post too....too much action was at night.

I think the final fight in Godzilla was better and I really enjoyed the bryan cranston stuff but Kong definitely succeeds where Godzilla drops off.

Yeah, and even with it being at night they could've done something to make it a bit more visible. But either way, I'm sure come Godzilla King of the Monsters we will get some more scenes of him during the day.

I liked Godzilla much better. It felt more mythical and a had better story, Kong felt like a montage of cool video clips rather than a film and the only better character was Reilly's Marlow. And Godzilla had a totally superior soundtrack.

Kong did look magnificent in the trailers, aare the Skull Crawlers some kind of Dinosaur offshoot?

Had my 2nd viewing if Kong tonight, this time on BD. And I enjoyed it a bit more upon re-watch. I think the characters made more of an impact this time on me, though I still feel Marlow was the best character in the movie and had the best arc.

I loved how any chance they got they showed how smart Kong was. I just feel a few more scenes of him showing how he wasn't a mindless beast in the non-action moments would have been beneficial.

Also, they mostly addressed people's complaints about Godzilla and not seeing much of the monster himself, but then in the final battle made the same mistake of too much human involvement. I think Godzilla has the better final fight out of the two personally. Kong has some great moments though and the set up for the big VS movie has been done well.

I also like how they have connected the movies in a much more subtle way. The MCU and DCCU movies sometimes beat you over the head with how they are connected. But I thought it was done really well here and just subtly informed you there was a connection there.

They are more so very lizard like, I watched some behind the scenes today. They said they looked at like Komodo dragons as one source when trying to figure out how they'd make them walk.

Interesting, will have to watch the extra's.

I always love diving into all then whined the scenes stuff. Love seeing how things all come together.

I'll be honest I don't tend to watch the extra's anymore as don't get the time, but I may make the effort for this as I loved the creatures.

Just thought the final, bigger Skull Crawler could have been a bit more inspired.

Fell asleep watching it but not because it was dull. Was quite enjoying it but geez the film had the same music video issues that suicide squad had..it never ended.

Anyone else notice the MGS reference?

I didn't upon first viewing. But since it was on the cinema I have e become addicted to MGSV, and so managed to catch it this time.

You do know this same director is doing the MGS movie also?
