The TDK movies look graded blue and brown somewhat. But MOS looks more grey, imho.

Though it looks like the colors in the TDK trilogy are mostly natural, and not desaturated.

Why not doing it just this. and your argument really falls apart IMO about the desaturation. I honestly don't see it. Must be my TV

MOS used gray, blue and brown too but depending on the situation. You won't compare a shot with Bruce in TDK with blue lightning (mostly sunset and the buildings color what gave that effec) with a bad quality MOS screencap that was on another scenario (with the messed weather, sunset, giving crater "look") and it's obviously that both directors looked for different goals. The comparisson is pointless and with the example you used it, more. But IMHO of course.

I honestly think almost the entirety of the criticisms directed towards Man Of Steel's colors are because of the Superman suit. People see the mostly muted colors of his suit and because it is darker than their preferred version of Superman (Christopher Reeve, comics, cartoons, etc.) they see the entire movie as dark.

The real tragedy to all of this is that people almost always never take an entire movie into consideration(how could they really) when they talk about grading. T2 was 'blue' when really it's got a crap tone of day shots that are the opposite. Films use different colors for different times, moments ,moods.
What color are Bays movies exactly?

All this talk of mos's lack of colours and I personally never see anyone bring up the kent farm scenes at all. I assume those weren't magic hour dark.

The only time I can get behind the generalization is when people are talking about black and white films(throughout), or Fight club(for the most part) and that's not even one color.

There were some vibrant shots in some scenes. I guess the scenes that could have used more color stand out. It is true that we shouldn't invalidate the entire scope of color use because there are some scenes that may be arguably under the palette spectrum.
