LEGO BATMAN MOVIE (Spin Off To Lego Movie)

Really enjoyed this movie. It was funny, well written, and full of references while overwhelming did not distract from the movie having a story. I also think they broke the Batman/Joker relationship for any movie to seriously try again. At least for a good long while.

All in all, this is the best DC movie since The Dark Knight Rises. And Will Arnett has cemented himself as a fan favorite after this.

Maybe it's the B&R fan in me, but they could have let Alfred say this at the end of the movie.

I saw some similarities with the "themes" and "messages" in this movie and Batman & Robin ... The whole subject of "family" and "working together" and whatnot.

Except Lego Batman did it well.

The movie is basically B&R done right..and even better it shows up Schumacher's toyetic excuse for the film's awfulness as complete bs.

I love the Grant Morrisonesque decision to make the character's history canon because despite being a parody with Lego figures in the end it comes across as convincing portrait of how the 'dark' Batman has, at it's worst, tipped into the realm of the toxic...and yes it does that more effectively than Snyder having him kill and brand crooks.

It'll be hard to take a grim dark Batman movie seriously after watching this.

It's weird though that Ralph Fiennes is in this as Alfred but they didn't have him voice Voldemort.

I disagree that it would be hard to take a dark Batman movie seriously just because of this movie. One of the things that's cool about Batman is it can be played straight, or camp or parody and it all can work. I dunno, for me it just compartmentalizes into different parts of my brain. This is a movie I'll go to when I want a fun celebration of all things Batman and a bit of a laugh at his expense. But it certainly won't in anyway impede on my ability to enjoy 89, Returns, MOTP, TDKT, *insert Matt Reeves Bat-film here someday fingers crossed* etc.

Random, but I think the the moments that made me the most giddy in this movie were the Lego versions of the posters for the previous films. It was just something unexpected that I really geeked out for.

Exactly. Half the reason this movie works is that dark Batman movies are taken so seriously and the traits of the more serious Batman are so valued.

Movie was hilarious I hate the character Robin always have but dam he made me lol in this especially the joke that will go over kids heads when he introduces himself to Bruce lol

"Kids can be cruel" :lmao:

I literally had tears it caught me off guard

There was a delighted gasp amongst the adults at the screening I went to. Probably genuine surprise that this wasn't going to be a conventional kids film in the modern day sense anyway.

As a longtime Bat fan it was nice to see the WHOLE movie canon celebrated. I actually laughed at the 1943 serial of all things being referenced and promptly rewatched it when I got home from the movie.

Enjoyed it, but the Lego movie was better. The pacing in this was off a bit. I got bored in a few parts, and some of the jokes didn't work or got repetitive. I enjoyed the references and easter eggs. Overall it was good, but lacked a bit in certain areas. The intro voice over was hilarious. I'd give it a 7.5/10.

Loved seeing Z-list villains like [BLACKOUT]Kite-Man[/BLACKOUT] and [BLACKOUT]Condiment King[/BLACKOUT]. :awesome:

You know one nitpick I have?

[BLACKOUT]Superman was bragging about putting Zod in the phantom zone, Joker enters the phantom zone and releases the cameo villains from WB and Universal, but where's Zod?[/BLACKOUT]

6 or 7/10
The last act got too out of control. The first twenty minutes had me dying wfrom laughter though. They frontloaded most of the references and Easter eggs

I think we all know what
Superman meant by "put Zod in the Phantom Zone"

I liked it. Not as much as Lego Movie, but I laughed quite a bit.

I enjoyed Batman and Joker's "break up" the most. :funny:

Lego Batman was OK. Worth a watch, but that's about it.

The end was weak. First thirty mins are amazing but they jumped the shark when they opened the Phantom Zone
