LEGO BATMAN MOVIE (Spin Off To Lego Movie)

Saw this and loved it. Great celebration of the character. Can't remember my favorite moment, because there were so many, but it was funny. :D

Another case of a one note secondary character not being able to carry a whole movie (minions syndrome).... that being said it didnt bottom out until the third act

I really liked Lego Batman. It was a very funny movie, one of the best comedies I have seen in some time, in terms of LOL value. The references were awesome. The story was a bit boring at parts, and I didnt like some of the things with the characters.Like others said, it dragged by the time it reached the third act. But its basically a satire and celebration of Batman so thats okay. It was a really fun experience.

3rd writethru, Friday PM: Is it the curse of the 2017 four-day holiday weekends?

Quite similar to MLK weekend, we’re seeing a number of studio wide releases die over the Presidents’ Day four-day stretch, while last weekend’s holdovers are rallying.

According to early evening figures, Warner Bros’ The Lego Batman Movie and Universal’s Fifty Shades Darker are posting incredible holds than what we were originally saw, with an even bigger potential bump from Monday’s business which will see 84% K-12 off from school with an additional 34% colleges on break (ComScore).

Lego Batman is dipping 34% in its second weekend at 4,088 theaters with $35.3M over three and an estimated $46.5M over four. Cume by Monday is expected to stand at $111.1M. The Chris McKay-directed animated movie easily wins Friday with $8M.

saw it last night, loved it
great celebration of the characters, i thought the humor was great
9/10

Pure fun and entertainment to the max. Lots of winks to Batman lore, the movies etc. Great vocal performances all around, especially from Fiennes as Alfred.

I wasn't too sure about this movie but the more I hear the more I think I'm gonna have to see it!

I think we all know what
Superman meant by "put Zod in the Phantom Zone"

Oh you devil!

Well I finally saw this movie. For a big Batman fan this movie is truly a blast. I also loved how it wasn't 100% a comedy, like some of the action beats weren't entirely played for laughs and the awesome score would kick in, I geeked out hard seeing Batman doing Batmany stuff :funny: I want to see this movie again.

WHO NEVER SKIPS LEG DAY? BATMAN!!

Hilarious film. Great laughs all around. Never saw the Lego Movie so I can't compare, but this was very good. I was very surprised by how dynamic the action was as well. Plus, using the "Let's get nuts" line from Batman 89 never gets old.

I was a bit disappointed about the "nuts" line, but that was my own fault. I heard it was in the film and I imagined that the new, friendlier Batman would say it to Robin at a fair towards end of the movie. :D

Anyone else think the whole Joker unleashing classic villains from the Phantom Zone bit was similar to Benedict's plot in LAST ACTION HERO?

Yeah I can see that.

I thought it was a good movie but it didn't top The Lego Movie for me. I felt like the whole final act felt weird. I feel like they could have had some more interactions with the classic Batman rogues gallery and had the C list and below for the final act.

I understand there's been a previous Lego Batman movie. Does anybody know anything about that?

There was The Lego Movie in 2014 which had Batman as one of the main characters. There has also been some direct to video Lego superhero movies. One of which was Lego Batman: The Movie in 2013. Is that what you are thinking of?

Yes that looks like the one. Is the new Lego Batman Movie a sequel to that one? I don't hear it talked about much.

No. The theatrical Lego movies are in their own continuity separate from the direct-to-video ones.

Didn't really love it, it was.. okay I guess?

A lot of the humor just felt lazy to me. I smiled but I didn't laugh. I appreciate a good callback but you can't make it the crux of the comedy itself because it's not that funny on it's own.

I hate to say it but I actually don't think this movie does the character or the legacy any favors. It's a tad mean spirited and I would hate for this movie to be some 4 year old kid's gateway into Batman.

But Punisher-Man is a perfect gateway into Batman?
