Nice find - I feel like we need to bookmark that post and pull it out when people are insisting there's ADR involved.

ADR will likely be used, but not for the singing. I know some directors prefer to get a well-delivered line reading during filming -- but oftentimes that's not possible because of location issues (planes flying overhead, rain or other weather, et al).

If Tom Hooper manages to avoid ADR entirely for the movie, I'll be impressed. The live singing alone should be a real treat.

@narrows

Thanks! I just love that Simon took the time to let people know how much work and care went into making this movie.

Well it's almost entirely sung-through with very little dialogue at all, so if they can avoid ADR for the singing then it should be pretty easy to avoid it for dialogue.

How the hell I'm just finding this now??

I like it!
Heh, I've had that on my IPod for months. Presumably this is the visual that goes with it:

Lamarque funeral really looks great! But I'm not sure about Marius taking part of the song. Although it sounds more like Aaron Tveit to me at the begining?

Oh, and I love that it sounds like a buch of boys singing instead of middle-aged men.

It's hard to tell from the middle of a bootleg snippet, but I remember someone posting on tumblr when the audio was released that she asked Fra Fee (Courfeyrac) at the stage door of his show who was singing in the snippet (not sure how he knew what she was talking about) and he said first it was Aaron, then Eddie, then him. To me they sounded all alike, but I presume the person who posted the audio was able to see who was singing what lines (although it may have been too far away). But in the recent Australia Hugh interview where we saw a snippet of Red and Black, that's definitely Aaron's voice you prominently hear.

IMDB rumor - someone posted a while back saying a new trailer would be released Oct. 9. They posted again today saying it was pushed back to Oct. 16 for "special reasons" and is being released worldwide on that date. The person said they trusted the source since info has been true in the past. They also said another poster is in the works.

Hmm, wonder if they can add the real orchestra then, with that being recorded on october 10th?

Who even know if the post is true, but it's out there. All I know is, I'm sick of reading all the Oscar projections and since this movie or a real trailer hasn't been seen, everyone is falling of the lists.

Cryptic tweet from Russell:

@russellcrowe
I cannot wait to hear you sing "The Confrontation"

Russell Crowe ‏@russellcrowe
@JOJFans1 Mate, I know it won't be what you might expect, but I believe I can safely say it will be a "Confrontation"

We know they won't omit the song; Hugh also reffered to it as one of his favorite ones... not that I would regret if they did, never liked that part really. as I've never seen the play live, are they going to fight after "confrontation"?

I remember Anne saying that she was crying when Russel sang "Stars" - well if "Stars" is going to be sang badly then I am, most definitely, also going to cry...

And I've found a new concern: Colm Wilkinson. Bishop is supposed to be a baritone. I can't imagine singing him bishop's lines at all.

Do you mean Confrontation re omitting??? The song is in, Russell tweeted about it when it was being filmed, even made a comment about "swords" so I think they are singing while they are fighting.

Colm - don't people sing songs in different keys all the time? I'm not getting all the complaints about "this should be a tenor", "this should be a baritone", etc. The writers of the songs were on the set during the whole shoot.

The Bishop's small role can easily be transposed into a tenor's range. I imagine it will be quite beautiful, actually.

Nah, yes, but I like it the good old-fashioned way... sounds so saintly. Of course I haven't heard Colm yet, but I'm afraid a tenor is little too pushy for this.

Colm could sing Hit Me Baby One More Time and it would sound saintly.

AMC at Lincoln Square in NY has the poster up. Took a picture with my phone, but I'm at work, so I'll post it later. :up:

Hi, everybody! :waves:

I think what Russell means is that the staging of the song will be different than the stage version.
In that one Valjean just clocks Javert at the end of the song and runs out. We know there will be a fight at some point (there's an interview with Hugh Jackman in which he's joking about Russell egging him on to hit him harder until Russell finally said "OK, that's enough!" :) ), the question is whether they'll fight during the song or afterwards as Valjean's trying to get away. I'm hoping they don;t fight while doing the song, it's plenty dramatic enough as it is.

I remember Anne saying that she was crying when Russel sang "Stars"
Poor Anne. I wonder how she will be while watching the movie?

"I cry terribly easily. Just a minute ago, I was reading an article about Kate Winslet in Vogue, and I love her so much, I started crying, realizing how great she is and how far I have to go."

Here it is! In the lobby of the AMC Lincoln Square on 68th St:
