Let's Make The Marijuana Thread Again!

Not sure if I can post it but has anyone seen the video going around on YouTube with the 3 grandmas smoking weed for the first time? It's pretty awesome

Lol yeah I saw it last night. It was pretty dang funny

I smoked from when I was 14 until a few years ago. Ever since my schizophrenia became active in me I can't smoke bud. If I do I hear voices instantly and get all freaked out because they tell me crazy crap. The way I figure it there really is no sense in doing something if you can't enjoy it. Now that I'm sober I just accept my partying days are behind me. They were tons of fun while I was doing everything but I prefer being sober now. I don't even like the feeling if I take NyQuil or Benadryl now. My friend also gets heart palpitations sometimes when he smoke though.

I actually want medical marijuana in my state so I can use cannabis to treat my schizophrenia.

The prescription drugs I currently take will eventually kill me.

CBD (not the THC, which causes psychosis) from cannabis has been shown to be effective treatment against schizophrenia without the adverse side effects.

That's very interesting. I take risperdal right now, what do you take if you don't mind me asking? I know the risperdal is a pretty hardcore anti-psychotic and it screwed up my metabolism and made me gain a lot of weight. I'm just scared to switch to any other meds since I know it works. I hate when I get paranoid, can't sleep and hear voices It's no bueno

I take the same.

You can always PM me about schizophrenia.

(I don't want to derail this thread).

America's Favorite Weed-Smoking Grandma Is Never Smoking Weed Again

Dorothea, the quietest, most charming weed-smoking grandma in the video that blew up the internet this week, apparently didn't have as much fun as her compatriots did getting stoned for the first time.

In an interview with ANIMAL, director Mike Gaston said that Dorothea—who sat in the middle and had a distinct Rose Nylund vibe—told him it's unlikely she'll ever smoke again, but not because it was too intense: "She actually expected it would be more like an acid high." TMZ interviewed Dorothea herself, who said that despite the surprising high, the experience convinced her that pot should be legalized.

The hardest part of the project, according to Gaston, was finding three grandmas who had never toked up even once.

The first thing we thought was, "Let's call our grandmas." Well, it turns out that all of our grandmas have smoked weed. Then we're like, "So, let's ask our friends' grandmas." They too have smoked weed. After asking tons of peoples' grandmothers whether or not they had smoked weed, we finally had go to a talent agency. Even then it was difficult! We'd meet grandmas who'd claimed they'd never smoked weed, but after just a little bit of grilling, it was clear that they had, but like 40 years before.

We finally got two grandmas that were perfect, who had never smoked weed before. The third one was actually the mom of one of the directors of [a talent agency], because it was so hard finding someone who never smoked weed.

Paula, the most gung-ho grandma—in the video, she urges her fellow smokers to hit the bong "like you mean it"—told Gaston she definitely plans to get stoned again.

This thing is so funny

so our fellow member Blitzkrieg Bop has the alcohol thread, and he reasoned with me that since marijuana is legal in a lot of places now, a thread like this could be appropriate to make alongside the alcohol one.

what is your favorite strain? sophomore year i discovered blue dream, and it's always been my favorite ever since. freshman year i discovered sour diesel and that's also always good. most of the time i'd say. and white widow... that's just really strong.

My favorite strain is pretty much ANY strain. Live in a place where it's not so easy to come by. :csad: This thread makes me sad because I wish I had a big fat sack of the magic green stuff and could toke up after a hard days work and watch some Doctor Who. Alas, I'm just watching Doctor Who sober.

Stupid government. :cmad:

I dunno man, I heard that marijuana kinda causes schizophrenia...

THC from cannabis can trigger schizophrenia in 1% of the population (those predisposed to schizophrenia) but the CBD from cannabis can be used to help treat schizophrenia.

You can make a compound from cannabis that is nothing but CBDs with no THC.

There isn't any weed in Pittsburgh? Lol I think Wiz is from the steel city, if you ever need any hit him up :p
Seriously though I understand your pain, it ain't all that easy to come by where I'm from either (middle to upper class suburbs in good ol' Alabama) but my college town is always plenty stocked. I don't smoke that much anymore but if I ever got a wild hair I'm sure it wouldn't take all that long.
I think in about twenty years or so it will be legal down here but that's a hell of a long time to wait.

Anybody else mess with dabs? I've gotten into 'em quite a bit the last 6 months or so. I love it. They're making me cough like crazy for some reason now but at first they barely ever did and I like just having to do two or three an being super good and feeling like I just smoked a J of some dro. It's just expensive and eats through you wallet like crazy. Dro is getting to where it doesn't really do much to me anymore. I've had plenty of edibles before too and sometimes those are nice but sometimes they are just way too damn strong. Good edibles make you uncomfortably high. But I am straight loving me some good wax and shatter right now. I think I'm gonna cut back soon though. I've smoked probably a good quarter or so of wax and shatter the last month. That's just too much lol

Dabs to me are excess..I prefer the natural leaf, but I may start going into oil/juice to get away from the smoke.

Bob Marley Natural weed and the CEO who says Marijuana should use imagery like his product's.

The stoner sub-culture is part of the natural tendencies that go along with a stoned mind-set.

Taking away the outlaw/renegade appeal from the plant is to destroy it's strongest marketing point.

This CEO wants stoners to start acting like wine tasters. It's not that kind of plant.

We should act a tad more refined though.

Agreed.
As someone who enjoys smoking yet wouldn't consider himself a "stoner" (you could count how many times I've smoked in the past two years on one hand), every time I see a person or a product with a pot leaf or the rasta colors on it I'm instantly repelled.
I saw a packaging project in some graphic designers portfolio where they classed up marijuana a little bit. They had rolling papers, boxes of joints, special lighters, etc, that were all branded to look modern, clean, and most of all, accessible. Hopefully when marijuana is federally legal in the next few decades certain companies will take notice of that and not go for the overtly graphic, tired and tacky aesthetic of what you saw on weed-related products now.

Well at least for the Marley brand cannabis rock dem Rasta moteefs mon :hehe: That'll be a great, distinct "common high class" brand, especially if it's affordable compared to the "high market" class of cannabis that Flint described, that you'd find in the higher-end dispensaries.

And when I say "refined" I mean we should take pride in what we partake. Grape Ape is my ****, and I compare everything else I try with that strain, because that is my **** dammit haha..but you catch my drift?

This Blueberry OG is pretty good though....

I think that will come along with more states legalizing.

But right now most people are forced to use the black market which doesn't even give you a variety of choices let alone label the strain.

That's where apps like Leafly come in :hehe: my connect actually texts me what he has, so I can look it up on there and see if it's the right kind I might enjoy.

I think the sub-culture is the way it is for a reason.

Weed has a subversive kick to it.

I can see an cowboy subculture emerging for whites who don't like hippies or rastafarians but it will always be subversive.

I don't disagree, but once it is legal and mainstream America has been educated as to it's history, medical benefits, and lack of supposed risks, don't you think the rebellious, subversive side will all but disappear?

Yes and no.

In Amsterdam, where weed has been unofficially legal for decades, weed shops all have 60's/70's rock band names or Bob Marley/alien/ecofriendly themes.

But those who smoke don't advertise it with hippie clothes or other stereotypical fashion statements.

So people will likely gravitate to certain subversive or rebellious themes but they won't be walking/talking cliches like they are now.

I hear ya.
I think both subcultures will exist, as there will be many different dispensaries and products available for those looking to smoke.
The 60s/70s rock band thing will appeal to me though, as I love Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, etc.
