Let's Make The Marijuana Thread Again!

Dabs to me are excess..I prefer the natural leaf, but I may start going into oil/juice to get away from the smoke.

See, I'm torn on it. It's driving my tolerance through the roof but Ive had a lot of experience with edibles and that's where IMO you get to the "excess" territory. I like wax cuz its stronger than weed but not as strong as good edibles. They have had me hacking up a lung lately though, I need a new rig. I've had to super glue mine back together after it broke and I feel like I could be inhaling super glue vapor or something. It's a little bit away from the nail but still.

So I'm currently a sophomore in college and I've smoked maybe just over half a dozen times now, and I've only had one really pleasurable experience. It was my last New Years with just a few of my buddies playing Xbox rolling into 2013 (which I think was better than going to somewhere loud as hell). The other times I've either felt nothing, or became incredibly paranoid and anxious. One time my paranoia was so bad that I begged my friend from my same dorm to take me home from the party I was at. I was a wreck, and definitely no help that I had been drinking quite a bit too (don't overdo Jungle Juice, even if it doesn't taste "hard" and a girl encourages you to drink more). :csad: I don't always smoke, but when I do I want it to actually feel good (yes, I meant to sound like the Most Interesting Stoner In the World there). Especially considering the legality will probably have spread rapidly by the time I'm 21.

Do you guys have any advice? I suppose the answer could be that I just need to do it with people I don't get anxious around like on that night I mentioned. Oh, and probably avoid looking at things like my avatar.

A tad of anxiety is natural with weed. When you do it your first few times though your brain is still new to the feeling and its something that you don't always recognize immediately. Hence the whole thing about people not feeling anything their first or even first few times. I've been like this with edibles and concentrates as well. It's really odd. Some people it doesn't even happen to and some it does

Pot is legal where I live but I have never tried it, probably never will either.
I'm too much of a goody-two-shoes

Yeah, I learned right after my first time in high school that you feel nothing your first time. I was expecting my mind to be blown. :funny:

So pretty much your answer to overcoming the anxiety is to smoke frequently? Because then I feel like I'll have at least a fair amount of anxiety each time then, unless it's with people I'm COMPLETELY relaxed around, because I smoke so infrequently. And I've wanted to try edibles, but I've never gotten my hands on any. My friend on Halloween messed with me and said she had an edible in this legit-ish looking tin case with marijuana leaves on it, but when I opened it they were clearly just regular ass Oreos and she was pulling my leg. Lol

Oh, and fun fact, my room in my apartment faces directly in front of the dispensary next door. Haven't payed a visit there though, and I've got no medical notes or anything like that to acquire medicinal stuff.

What I always tell people is to do it in your comfort zone. A loud party with strangers around is not ideal. Smoke with a few friends that you trust where you live or at one of their places, and do something low key and relaxing. That's really the best way to enjoy the whole thing in my opinion.

And that's a big part of why I hope it's legal in my neck of the woods soon. Will be much easier to acquire and consume in a smaller group, and not in the context of passing it around in an overly busy shindig.

I sometimes get a small quiver on anxiety when meeting new people - use to be worse, but now I'm more confident - but weed can amplify that **** easily.

Well, my point of view on this may be askew. I have very bad anxiety disorders and all that but, I find pot can help with it but a lot of the time it makes my anxiety worst. I just unabashedly love pot and the positive effects from it so much I just deal with the anxiety. I've always felt that twinge of anxiety since I started smoking when I was 13 (30 now.) There's just always a bit of anxiety there. My suggestion would just be to breathe and remember you're smoking a plant that man has been smoking for thousands of years without resulting directly in death. I mean, that should ease things at least a bit. It does for me

Different strains of cannabis will treat your brain differently.

If possible, you should select a strain known for reducing anxiety.

It's the THC in cannabis that causes anxiety. But cannabis also has CBD which counters those effects.

You need a high CBD, low THC strain of weed like cannatonic, CBD shark shock, ComPassion, or Pennywise.

well, I must say I'm quite pleased this thread has reached 5+ pages and so fast.

go tokers

Lol it appears you me and Messiah are the most frequent posters here :hehe:
I'm from the deep south and raised in a Christian environment and go to a university that is widely known as the most conservative public university in America, so it's tough for me to be pro-marijuana when everyone around me is so staunchly opposed. The other day my roommate made a comment that he doesn't know how he's going to raise his kid in a country where weed is legal, and I tried explaining that pot is way less extreme than alcohol, but it fell upon deaf ears.
Idk the social stigma it carries is still somewhat baffling.

For me its more about "recreation" as opposed to medication.

I mean, I dont like to smoke it. I dont like smoke. But I've asked many many pot smokers why they prefer to smoke it over eat it and most say something similar, "usually I'm not looking for my brain to completely melt." A sentiment I understand, but for me I'm not looking for something to do nightly, or rely on for sleep or nerves or mood. In fact I dont like to do it on the weekdays at all.

For me it's fun, so I treat it that way. I eat some gummies like once a month/every two months on a Friday or Saturday afternoon. Then I wake up a day or two later and say "wtf just happened?"

Im gonna make it a point to keep talking in here. What is y'all's favorite strain? Personally, mine is Headband. Part OG Kush, part Sour Diesel, knocks you for a loop. Sure, I love your Purple Urkles and your Bubba Kushs and Skywalker OGs (Still gotta try Darth Vader and Batman) but that Headband, its almost like an opiate. It literally feels like your wearing some kind of headband when you smoke it. It's honestly the only theory I've been able to come up with as to how it got its name but it really does feel like that. I wish I lived in a good state though cuz here you basically just get whatever is around at the time. I can not wait for the day I get to experience walking into an establishment straight off the street and buy some weed. Such a beautiful thing to me that people are waking up after almost an entire century of pure ignorance.

I've grown less fond of sativas in general lately. They don't affect me as pleasantly as they did back in the day.

I wish I could grow. I want to so bad but I just do not want to risk the legal trouble if it's discovered. I'm not too big on sativas nowadays. Maybe when I got stuff to do.

Where I live, its the opposite. Everybody smokes weed, my entire family is pro legalization, when I went to school my principal was a hippie stoner, people walking down the sidewalks smoking pot and cops don't give a crap. Its pretty awesome.

Where do you live and how can I get to this magical land?

^ Agreed.
I mean I know where it's legal, but that's all oh so far away from where I live lol.
We would always smoke in friend's apartments, poorly lit parking lots, or the woods behind said parking lots and let me tell you that got old real quick. Having the ability to just do it in plain sight walking down the street would be something else.
Also I hear you all talking about "grape ape" and "head band" and these sort of "name brand strains" if you will - that is not something we have where I'm from. I buy weed, it comes in a poorly wrapped ziplock baggy from guy who couldn't tell you what it's called or even really where it came from. Pot is pot, I doubt I've ever smoked anything with a name.

South Florida is pro legalization but were stuck in a very anti marijuana state. We just voted on medical but only got 58% needing 60 to get it through. Frustrating.

Ky just re-elected Mitch McConnell's corrupt ass so I doubt we'll be seeing medical soon. And, you should be able to get medical grade marijuana anywhere in the country now. I was smoking reg up until about a year a half-two years ago. But, the stuff has always been around, you just gotta run in the right circles and know the right people.
